It’s Sunday again already and time for another one of Sherry and Jeanne’s "Just Because We Wanna!" challenges. Wow! Time is flying by so fast. Sherry is hosting the challenge this week and she has created a sketch for us to play with. Sherry is a very creative designer using lots of layers and distressing. I love her work. This sketch was a bit of a challenge for me as I rarely use lots of different layers on a card. I think this may be an all time record for me but I sure had fun. I tried to remain totally true to the sketch design and don’t think I modified it in any way. I used Basic Gray Figgy designer paper for my decorative layers and accompanied them with cranberry and blue bayou card stock. I got to use my brand new November stamp of the month (snowman) from Cornish Heritage Farms and a lovely new evergreen tree and pine bough from Denami Designs. I love new stamps!!! See Sherry’s sketch below.
I stamped my snowman with Black Brilliance on watercolor paper and then masked. I stamped the tree with Adirondack lettus ink. I painted the snowman image with re inkers and then sponged with soft sky and blue bayou for the sky. I masked off a little larger star area so I could back and create a glow by sponging on banana. I used a fine brush and dotted on white craft ink over the snowflakes from the stamped image to cover the black and then sponged on white craft in for the ground area and embossed the whole scene area with white embossing powder.I stamped a second star on scrap paper, used Diamond Glaze and Dazzling Diamonds on it to create sparkle and then cut out and attached to the scene. I used one of my favorite sentiments from All Year Cheer on a tag cut with tag punches. It just seemed to tell the snowman’s feelings. All the layering is pretty self explanatory. I used my baggie of dried rice to create the backgrounds for the card stock layers. Thanks for a fun Sunday challenge Sherry.
