The Limited Supply challenge on Splitcoaststamper’s today was to make a football inspired card. We could actually use football images, super bowl team colors, ore really just about anything we wanted. I happened to have gotten some football images a few weeks ago from the Rubbernecker-Sports Collection thinking it would be fun to create a scene with players running down the field. Today’s challenge has given me the perfect opportunity. I did a Google search for the Patriots and Giants to get an idea of what their uniforms look like. I know I probably have made some kind of mistake on how I colored them and you football authority’s will notice but they are close enough for me. I stamped the images and painted with reinkers and a watercolor brush and used markers as well. I sponged in the grass area, wanting it to look artificial turf instead of grass. Hmmmmm…..not quite sure I managed that. I used a straight edge and drew a line with my versa pen and embossed with white embossing powder to create a yard line. I added the number 10 for the yard marking and embossed as well. That guy carrying the ball is close to a touch down….I hope he makes it. When I finished the grass and coloring the images I sat there and looked at a very blank looking scene. I wondered how to add a little interest and decided to sketch a little fence line around with the advertising posters in the background. I’m sure you can tell I hand wrote all the product names. I thought a small goal post would look good showing in the background as well. I still had big blank space and decided to just use sketched lines and gray wash to give the look of the stadium seats in the background. I know….I know….you really have to use your imagination for that one. I stamped a football to paint and cut out as a simple embellishment. I used Crystal Effects on the helmets and football for punch. But…the punch doesn’t show in the photo. This was a great challenge for me as I am really not into sports but wanted to make a stab at creating something sports worthy.

Little Monkeys- Store More Stamps
I have been a Stampin’ Up! only stamper for quite a while and have collected more wood mounted sets than I would care to admit. I am running out of space. In the last year or so, I have begun purchasing stamps from many others companies and most of them are unmounted. I did a search to find a good storage system that works well and saves on space. I found a thread on a Splitcoaststampers forum regarding all different kinds of storage and went one by one to the sites suggested by all the people who had contributed their opinions. I was most impressed with the system by Store More Stamps-Little Monkeys. I decided to buy a starter kit to see how they worked for me. I am very impressed and have now ordered several unit to work with. I will use them for all of my existing unmounted images and then will start unmounting wood sets that I want to keep and storing in the Little Monkey units as well. I thought you might like to take a look at this system and took a picture of my humble little beginning. PS…Susan Jones is wonderful to deal with.
Oh my Kit! You did a fabulous job with this card! You’ve even got a fence with sponsors!!
What a great card! And I knew right away that one of the teams included our beloved Patriots!! Yes, I am a football fanatic and I come from Boston so you know who I’ll be rooting for on Sunday!! I do make lots of time to create and search for lovely creations like this though — I guess I’m well-balanced (LOL — well, maybe I would be if I got more sleep!!). TFS your great card! I’ll have to check out RubberNecker for these images — I have an almost-10 yr old son who is also into football…as are all of his friends!! Jeanne
What a great scene….now off to check out more about that storage!
Awesome card Kittie!
