Delivering Balloons

The Color Challenge today on Splitcoaststampers was a doozie.  We were to use Celery, Orchid and Pumpkin.  Wow!  Shield your eyes….or wait a minute…do the colors look cute together???  Yes they do.  I decided to use Anna Wight’s new image -Delivering Balloons released by Whipper Snapper Stamps.  I fell in love with the image when I first saw it. The balloons and cartoony car seemed like a perfect fit for this bright color combination.  I used SU inks in these colors as well as Copic markers.  I had a hard time matching the celery so my green is a little bright but I still love it.  I stamped my image and colored with Copic’s.  I drew out the ground line and road with the markers as well as the tree trunks and limbs.  I sketched in little bark type marks with an artist pen. I used celery ink and my watercolor minis fern stamp for the leaves and grass texture.  I sketched out sprigs of flower stems and grass around the trees with my artist pen and then colored with a green artist pen.  The tips of the Copic markers are not good for creating fine lines for me. I sponged a brighter color of green over the leaf area to make them match the ground area better.  I used the fern stamp to add some orchid and orange flowers around the trees.  I couldn’t leave well enough alone and decided to add Crystal Effects to the balloons and added dazzling diamond glitter. I liked all the sparkle and thought the trees needed to sparkle as well so I sponged on versa and put a light sprinkle of iridescent ice embossing powder and heated.  I love the way this turned out.  You do need a pair of dark glasses to appreciate it but it sure was fun to create.
