I've listed a few of my cards for sale on Ebay if you are interested in checking them out. See the link on the right under eBay My World. Thanks for taking a look.
I created my project "Dirt Bike Riley" for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge on SCS. Although the layout of the card had several layers I decided to create a scene and represent layer 2 with color.
I sponged a blue stripe across the watercolor paper to create a stream of water for my scene (layer 2). It is a little off set from one side to the other for interest. I sponged a base of green on both sides of the stream and used a small dauber to sponge brown on to create the dirt bike path. I cut the small square of watercolor paper for layer 3 and lined it directly over the scene where it would be placed for the layout and sponged on the blue water line, green grass and brown dirt path to it and set aside. I sketched in two tree trunks and three evergreen trees in the scene and watercolored with a brush. I sponged green on the tree tops to create the leaf base and then filled in leaves and added ground texture with my mini fern stamp. I sponged yellow and blue in for the sky. I stamped Riley on a scrap of watercolor paper, painted with reinkers and cut him out. I used a craft knife to cut the little details and sort of ruined the inside of the wheels. I completely cut them out and left the outer base of the wheel and knew I could draw the spokes in with an artist pen on the base that Riley would be attached to. I sketched out a little bridge, painted and cut out to pop up over the stream and to represent layer 4. I layered layer 3 with chocolate chip cardstock, lined it up and adhered it to the scene. I attached Riley's wheels to the bridge, sketched in the wheel spokes and attached dimensionals to the bridge and Riley and popped them up over the scene. I distressed the borders of the main scene and sponged with brown carrying some of it into the scene on all four sides and then attached to the card base. I had painted Riley's bike bright red but it looked out of place in this wooded scene so I brushed on a light coat of brown to tone down the color. The final touch was to add a little diamond glaze to his bike and antlers. I am in love with the Riley images and still have three more new ones that have not seen ink. I can't wait to play with them and see what kind of scene I will use them in.
