Hittin’ the Bottle….of Reinker that is!!!!! and Image Previews of New Stuff at Rubbernecker Stamps

It has been a while since I was able to post a blog article or upload any cards to SCS.  Whew!  I have been going through withdrawal. I am Cape Hatteras for our annual family vacation and brought tons of stamping stuff with me to play with.  All though I love sitting out on the beach and watching the ocean I just can't take the sun and heat like I used to.  It is raining here today and has given me lots of time to play.  I am having  fun playing with images that will release on Rubbernecker Stamps this coming Wednesday.  Watch my blog and those of the Rubbernecker Design Team for more information and updates. I thought you guys would enjoy a little preview of what is coming.  See anything new?  See anything familiar?

KC Kittie Kit Beach 1

I love this lighthouse image and the dune setting with it.  The little sprigs of sea oats are just the right touch along the beach fence.  I got a little carried away with the seagulls in the sky but I have seen the sky full of them here at Cape Hatteras.  I couldn't resist creating the little puffy clouds an popping them up in the sky.

The lighthouse is a newly resized Rubbernecker image.  It is much smaller than the original and more user friendly for normal card sizes. I stamped it with distress vintage photo ink and embossed with clear EP.  I didn't want the lighthouse to be in black and to distract from the scene. I have no brown waterproof ink with me so embossing the image was a way to keep the ink from  running when watercoloring it. I used a few of the brand new images, fence dunes and sea oats that  coming out Wednesday to create the scene.  I sponged in the sand area with caramel and the sky and water with cool caribbean.  I used a Staedtler triplus multiliner marker to color in the sea oats. I love adding liquid applique to the water to create sea foam.  The trick to not getting the dreaded blobs with LA is to dab around on it with your finger to spread it and create a fine layer vs a thick one. I lightly brushed caribbean around the outline of the clouds but left them fairly white in the center for good contrast.

KC Kittie Kit Beach 2The main Rubbernecker focal images in this card, umbrella, Adirondack chair, towel and bucket have all been resized to better fit on card fronts.  I love this chair and umbrella.  You will be able to find these resized images this Wednesday on Rubbernecker Stamps along with the new sea oats, fence and seagulls.

The chair was stamped with versafine black ink on the main card layer.  I stamped the towel, umbrella and bucket images on scrap paper to paint and cut out.  The fence and sea oats were stamped after I sponged in the caramel for the sand.  I masked off the sky and sponged on bashful blue to create the calm sea in the background.  I sponged in a lighter layer of blue for the sky.  The umbrella, towel and bucket was painted with guava and bashful blue. I popped up the umbrella with dimensionals and glue dots.  I folded the towel and laid it by the chair along with the little beach bucket. I love this calming scene and have created it so many times.  I just never seem to tire of it.

KC Kittie Kit Beach 3

This scene is made up totally of new images that will release on Wednesday.  I love the little sand castle but it does not show up well in this photo.  I thought it was interesting to have the couple walking over the sand dunes off the beach rather than just the typical “along the water” scene.  The beaches here in the Outer Banks are lined with the protective fences as the storms are so fierce and carry the sand away.  I love this scene as it is such a perfect representation of what I can see out the window of our cottage. The sand, dune fences, sea oats, water and sky  were all created the same way as the other cards so I will not bore you with the steps again. I love the water washing up on shore and carrying away the castle.

Keep an eye on the Rubbernecker Design Team blogs and Rubbernecker Stamps this Wednesday for an exciting bit of news. One member is really going to be celebrating that day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
