Caroling in the Neighborhood and Treasure Hunt Tuesday

It’s Tuesday and that means there's a Treasure Hunt at RubberneckerYou can find all the details on the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog .   Every one of our Rubbernecker Design Team members are so very talented and have so much to share. Please go check out their blogs today to see what they've been up to. One of them has blog candy for you as well.

It seems to me that the Christmas card making spirit hits me in late September each year and I just can't help myself. I seem to get on a roll and hardly make any other kind of project during the fall. I rarely make the same card twice as that would ruin the fun of creating something new. I do keep the same kind of theme going as I love outdoor snow scenes, snowmen, evergreens, reindeer, kids in the snow, etc.

KC Carolers and Street Light 2 When I saw the Monday Technique Lovers Challenge on Splitcoaststampers was to make a card using the stair step fold technique I knew I had to create a scene with lots of interest on each step. I thought of the snowy neighborhood image in the Rubbernecker Holiday collection and how it would be fun to use for the background. I chose my color combination from a piece of Basic Grey Figgy Designer Paper as I was going to try and use it with this but didn't end up having room for it. I stamped a couple of trees from the Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose on each side of the paper, masked and then stamped the house images. The house images come with evergreen shrubs around the houses but I cut them off as I much prefer using tall evergreen trees. I sponged the sky heavy with the blue to create a night sky. I stamped the carolers and street light, painted with reinkers and cut out to pop up on the second step. I wanted them to appear in the foreground with the neighborhood  back in the distance with the lights shining from the windows in the night.

I attached the scene background to the third step and the carolers to the second. I cut white cardstock to the exact width of the card and tore it to create layers of snow. The layers added so dimension to the project and I love how the torn edges look so much like snow. I really love how this project came out. I think the carolers are all so cute and that little street light popped up by them is so perfect. I added a second picture of the card from the side so you can see the layering on the steps. I had so much fun doing this.

  1. Oh Kittie, this is just FABULOUS!!! So, so adorable! I wanted to do a pumpkin patch scene, and just couldn’t squeeze it into my day yesterday. Maybe one day this week I’ll get to it. Thank you for showing the side view, the detail is shown so well and it shows the concept and design to perfection!

  3. I’ve been to the Rubberneck site all day!! I LOVE their stuff – I’d never looked before. I can’t find those houses and I’m eager to CASE this card! Can you tell me where they can be found? I didn’t find a “collection”, just the others individually. Thanks – you’re truly an inspiration! and an enabler!!! 🙂
