I am counting down the days until I meet my sisters and brother-out-laws for our annual Cape Hatteras family reunion. We spend a week together every summer having our morning coffee on the deck, sitting on the beach, cooking, laughing and most significantly having “sister time”. My beach scene today represents a perfect lazy beach day.
I stamped all the images on scrap watercolor paper, painted and cut them out. The umbrella was stamped on the yellow background paper and pieced with the blue. I cut a mask to create the sand and water line on white Simply Smooth paper using sponges. The sky was lightly sponged with the same color blue as the water with a hint of yellow. I popped all the images up in the scene using glue dots and dimensionals. I think the textured side of Prism paper makes a perfect clean background that does not distract from the main focal point of the scene. The wide grosgrain covered the edges where the colored paper met and allowed for a simple knot. I never tire of creating relaxing beach scenes that represent my love of sitting, relaxing and watching the waves roll in.
