Vintage Floral Rose

Happy Monday morning!  I hope you had a wonderful relaxing weekend.  I sure did but can I just say….brrrrrrrrrrr!  It has really chilled down here in Florida and we are under freeze warnings in my area.  I am not complaining as I know how very cold it gets for so many of you in other parts of the country.

Hobby Lobby has just moved into the Orlando area and I took a little shopping trip there this weekend to see what it was like.  I found the McGill Rose Blossom set there on a 40% off sale and had to bring it home to try.  Here is what I came up with.

KC Morning Glory Panel 1 right   I started by stamping the Morning Glory Panel image on vanilla cardstock, sponging with Antique Linen ink for aging and attaching to the card base.  I sponged ink on the scalloped die background frame edges and attached to the base with mounting tape to pop it up for a little extra dimension.

This is the Floral Rose. I watched the video tutorial on the McGill site and followed the steps to make my rose using vanilla cardstock and then lightly sponged Antique Linen on the edges of the petals. I die cut two foliage sections, distressed the leaves with a stylus and mat and then attached to the scalloped frame.  I finished by attaching the rose over the foliage.

I hope you have a wonderful week.  Thanks for stopping by.

There is also a Birch Leaf Punch that comes with the set but I didn’t use it today.

  1. Kitty this is a fabulous rose. It looks so real. I would love to have that punch.
One question. It may be that it is early in the A.M. and I am half asleep, but your list says you used the Alpine Snowflake punch and I cannot see anywhere where you used it. Could you tell me? I am probably looking right at it.

  2. I simply cannot believe that yuo can take cardstock, a stylus and ink and turn them into these works-of art flowers! They are fabulous, textured and so real-looking! Your skill and talent continue to awe me, Kittie. I was wondering about where/how you used the Alpine snowflake, as well? 🙂

  3. You did a splendid job on constructing the
rose. It’s gorgeous. Will be adding that
punch set to my collection. I love how you
made the background for the card. Also, a
great big Thank You for showing the tools
you use. It is so helpful. I wonder who came
up with using the snowflake for the bottom
    of the rose.
