White on White Orchard Tree Frame

Good Wednesday morning.  I had a wonderful time being off during the holiday but vacation is over for me and I am back to work today. I spent quite a bit of time yesterday browsing galleries on Pinterest and pinned so many gorgeous white on white projects.  I was inspired to pull out my Orchard Tree Frame and create a spring scene in all white.  I love making white on white cards but then I torture myself trying to get good photographs of them.  LOL!  I think I took about fifty pictures to get these.

I have always had a bit of trouble getting this intricate die to cut well but I was really excited at how well it cut using my metal adapter plate. What a difference it makes!!

I started by cutting the frame and base.  I cut the grassland border making sure to leave plenty of paper on the bottom side.  I placed the frame die over top of the grass and cut it so it so it would have the exact shape and would give me a perfect fit inside the frame. I attached mounting tape on the back side of the frame, attached the grass to the back of the frame over the tape, added adhesive to the grass back and then attached the frame to the debutante base.

I cut a couple leafy branches and pine branches and arranged them among the grass to fill in and soften. I finished by adding several butterflies to the scene.

I took a closer view so you could see this a little better. It really shows up beautifully in person but not so much in the photos. Sigh!

  2. Another great creation by you….so pretty.
I, too, find some of my dies have “spots” that don’t cut as well even with non-warped flat cutting plates. I’m sure you have tried the wax paper between the die and cs which helps in most cases. I have the adapter you mentioned, but if you just have spots that don’t cut, adding any shim or adapter keeps the pressure the same. So, try “spot” shimming. If the die isn’t cutting in an area that is solid, try putting a piece or stacked pieces of tape on the back of the die just where it isn’t cutting. If the die is intricate and you don’t want to use tape, try small pieces of cs just in the difficult areas. This evens the pressure and works for me every time. Hope this is helpful…and makes sense.
