Good Sunday morning. I have a see thru window project to share with you today that I made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge. Our inspiration site was The World Market and I was inspired by the Spring Flowers set. I loved the awning in the inspiration piece so I hand made mine to fit my window. I thought it would be perfect paired with the Poppystamps Small Madison Arched Window. I created the large flower pots using the Impression Obsession Vase Set and the small pots are Memory Box Garden Pots. I used the Hollyhocks, Spiral Flowers, Tiny Flowers, Leaves and Stems and Leafy Branch to fill all the pots. I couldn’t resist adding a few cats in the scene since I was surrounded by all four of my cats while I made this.
Here’s a photo of the inspiration piece. I love how soft and pretty it is.
I started by cutting the window twice and using one as a template to draw lines to guide where I cut the window opening. I attached the outer window with mounting tape and attached in the inner window with ATG adhesive. I cut 1/2” white strips of cardstock and attached them to the awning. I attached a scalloped border to add a soft touch and interest. I scored the awning twice 1/4” apart, folded and attached to the card base over the window.
I used two vases from the vase set and cut off a small portion of each to make them the proper scale for the scene. I filled all the pots with foliage and flowers. I kept all the flowers the same color instead of a mix as I thought it would have more impact. I attached the pots to the card base using mounting tape. I colored the cats with a black Copic marker and attached them to the scene with mounting tape. Here’s a closer view that shows the dimension.
Sophie (black cat), Toby and Cassie (black and white cats) were represented here. Chloe, my long haired Siamese didn’t make the cut. I just didn’t think I could fit a 4th cat on the card. LOL!
I wasn’t able to post every day this week as I had a pretty hard work week. I didn’t feel like I had any mojo Saturday as I started looking at the Inspiration Challenge and almost didn’t make anything. But after I got started I felt stress rolling off my shoulders. Crafting is always good for me. Check out this article regarding the health benefits of crafting that my husband sent to me a while back. Here is an excerpt that may catch your attention.

So happy you have beautiful cats to inspire your artwork.
And your beautiful cards inspire me.
There was a clearance on Susan’s Garden floral dies @ Hobby Lobby.
Got most of them! 🙂
Absolutely GORGEOUS! Love the colors…haven’t made an awning card in a while but have been thinking about it. Here are those Hollyhocks again…I may have to get them….And yes, those cats are perfect there. Love that there is just a touch of black on the white cats.. You are truly an artists Kittie…and a florist…
How cute…I have cats, too….started with one, but then a very hungry stray came knocking and she later had kittens….I’m such a softy. It’s true…dogs have masters, cats have “staff” LOL….love your card. I got this via the internet vs. my email…so glad I was reminded to check your site….thanks for all your help with my email issues.
A WONDERFUL card to love, Kittie!
Such as your beautiful cats!!
Looking at those pictures makes me already happy.
And trying such a card to make…..its will be joy!
Hugs, Eva.
You are amazing, your skill with dies is something I am always in awe of. I really needed your post today, the stress around here has been tremendous. I have been neglecting my crafting and am sorely missing it, going to have to try to fit it in unfortunately my biggest issue is there are only 24 hours in a day and I’ve run out of energy. Thanks for the link and the encouragement in your snippet!
Hugs, Antonella 🙂
When you create your cards with kitties on it my heart melts. Sadly we just lost our nearly 20 year old Siamese and miss her so. A tribute card with her in a window setting is well worth my attempt. You have inspired me especially today. OH, and the Pearl Lace die could fit nicely in my die stash. Why would Memory Box retire such a beauty?
Who makes the bed on a Saturday morning, anyway? Love the card as always.
What a beautiful scene you have created. Makes me think of Paris although I have never been there. Thanks for the chance at winning some awesome candy! You are very generous 🙂
I love the card and I totally agree with the thought about stree!
I always love your window and flower scenes and the awning adds something to it. Thanks for sharing your talent and for the chance to win.
As a cat owner for almost my whole life, I was drawn to your creation like catnip-hahaha.
This card is fabulous and was so enjoyable to read how you made it. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you once again for your fabulous creative inspiration. I LOVE cats and your kitties are adorable; both the ones on the card and on the bed. The flowers in the flower pots are so pretty. Love the strips on the awning. Thank you for the tutorial steps.

So beautiful, Kittie! I love your different flower varieties all in the same color. And a special THANKS for the “your brain on knitting” link! It’s so true for me – I’m much happier and healthier because of knitting and playing with my art supplies (including card making!)
Absolutely fantastic, as are all your cards. I just love looking at all the detail you put into them. Your crafting makes you happy as well as me!!! 🙂

Just beautiful, you have so much inspiration thank you. Your kitties are so cute and I just love the flowers. Also love the window and awning.
You captured the look of the inspiration piece beautifully Kittie! Love the flowers!
Gosh, those little rolled flowers are amazing and the whole card a work of art. Fab interpretation of the image.
Your quotation on the health benefits of crafting made me chuckle – might have to show that to my other half to prove my time being creative is not a waste of time!
Thanks for offering the die as candy too. Most generous.
Good Afternoon, Kittie, I am sure at the long end of the list today. It has been a busy pass few days for me too. Not to worry, friend, you can take a day off,we love what you do everyday, and know you will be back with more inspiration. And this one is SUPER, AMAZING, I love everything about it. Everyday, I learn more, and when not here, it a good time to review your creations and get ready for the next gorgeous inspiration.
I was just wondering, what to do when mailing this one. Would I be right to place some tissue under the awning so it will be open when removed. I would also put into a larger envelope with bubble wrap. Does that sound good? reminded me of Paris in the Spring.
Another wonderful card Kittie! Thanks for all of your inspiration with your cards.
My computer was down for about 4 weeks and boy did I miss your emails!!! Had a lot of fun going thru all of them when my computer was “revived”. I do so enjoy your almost daily card and get such inspiration from you. You are a “very” talented lady. Thank you for the chance to win some blog candy.
I love this cute scene you created, I think I might have to KopyKat some of this. Love the cats. Thanks for the chance to win the fabulous die.
Pattie, I would mail this in a crystal clear box as there are so many dimensional items. Have you seen them on Ellen’s? They fit perfectly into a padded envelope. Here’s a link to a post I did a while back that I show a picture of the box with a card in it. I hope this helps.
I am so glad that Iam not the only one who experiences less stress due to crafting. I believe it feeds my soul. Your cards are so lovely. I look forward to every post! TFS! kReN
I look forward to your posts everyday! I especially love the guote about crafting reducing stress. I am going back to school as a mom and it has been stressful! Thanks to your blog posts/crafting it helps stress roll away:) Happy Crafting!!!

You never cease to amaze me, love your cards. I want all those dies!
Your work is such an inspiration. I have all these dies and never know what to do with them. But visit your Blog and Bingo! All the inspiration anyone could want.
Your cats are gorgeous! And it is very true crafting is good for anxiety, stress etc. I’ve been crafting for over 15 years and am currently suffering with stress and anxiety and my therapist was so happy when I told him I craft and Im Converting my porch into a craft room. Only problem is, it’s stressful trying to work out what to keep and what to get rid of! I want to keep everything! Xx
Fantastic summer scene, like how you colored the cats and the flowers look great in their pots…. that is too cute how your cats lay all over your bed 🙂
Hi Kittie, I absolutely agree with the article you posted. Crafting does help relieve stress. Your card is gorgeous as are your kitties!
Your cards are always so amazing with all the details and dimensions! Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
glad your back to crafting-miss your daily posts- they keep me motivated esp at times when I do not feel like cardmaking
I love all the layers on your cards, I get more glue on me than the card when I use the little flowers. Cats are fun the way they make everything theirs . I have 2 and they own all the furniture.
Amazing card, and I so………….. love the bright happy colours. That snippet about the health benefits of crafting is so true. My friend who has always been a fabulous crafter lost the ability to use her hands a year ago for no reason at all. But through share determination and the love of it all she has slowly been able to get back to teaching craft and making cards again. She still struggles at times but her fantastic determination to fight on still amazes me today.
Kitty,
Your cards are such an inspiration. This one with all it’s elements is beautiful. You have such a good eye for what is essential. I’m going to share the benefits of crafting article with the women I make cards with. I’m sure they will agree.
I just love all the detail you add to your cards. So realistic and fun! The cats are adorable! Thanks for sharing your work with all of us. Such inspiration!
Would love to win the Pearl Lace Die. Your card is beautiful and I like that you use your kitties in your cards. They are beautiful also.
Beautiful, inspiring card Kittie! The awning is amazing! I may have a card sometime that I could use your technique for. Love the pots of flowers, I just purchased the tiny flowers die at my local paper arts store, it is a great die. The holyhocks die will be my next purchase, they are one of my favourite summer flowers. I believe in the health benefits of creating, since my accident at the end of Jan. I have been doing more creating, art journaling and card making and mixed media fiber art, and using paper and stuff I have had for years, since I can’t get out and walk, I am creating. I think my recovery is going well because of it, people have asked me why I am not more negative, I think it is the creativity. Also your blog has given me much needed creative inspiration. I am now making a Mother’s day card for my daughter in love, I am making a garden scene, inspired by your scene cards. Thank you for all the creative inspiration you share, I am amazed that you post as often as you do. When you don’t post I think you are working on something amazing and when it is ready you will share, and usually that is what happens. When typepad went out of whack I was worried because I couldn’t access your blog, but then I figured a way. I visit daily and your blog lifts my spirits and inspires me to get creating.
Thank you for sharing today.

Adorable card, as always. Love all the vases of flowers and of course, the cats. Thanks for offering the blog candy.
Hi Kittie! I came across your blog several days ago and when I saw this card, it blew my mind! It is so beautiful and whimsy at the same time. I plan on getting the tools that I need to make one (or two, or three, or etc., etc.). Unfortunately, I have several health issues which have caused me to become a chair potato. Thank God for my husband doing the shopping, chauffering, house cleaning, and everything else that I can’t do anymore. I finally had to find something to occupy my mind and my hands to keep me from losing my mind. First I watched TV, then I started making jewelry, then I learned to do kumihimo and from there I went to making paracord survival bracelets. I don’t know what made me want to make cards, but I have gotten into that recently and I absolutely love it!!! There is no way I can get bored with this because there are so many different styles and patterns available. I would love to be the winner of your Memory Box Pearl Lace die!! Thank you so much for your beautiful work.
Beautiful card Kittie. Love the cats scampering about. Thanks for the chance to win that awesome die.
I love your talent and agree the red alone is beautiful. So many of your projects are one of a kind. Thanks for sharing with us.
Kittie – I just spent waaaaaaaaaaay too much money at http://www.ellenhutson.com and it’s all your fault! I actually scrolled through your posts to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. The only “saving” grace was that I had my frequent shopper discount, which is also all your fault! Love your stuff to pieces. Corky
This has to be one of my favorites that you have created. I love the colors and the layout. Thanx for sharing.
Beautiful creations you make! I love all the flowers you create! What a fascinating article on the benefits of crafting..I know it helps me a ton! Thanks so much for the chance at the beautiful border die. 🙂
Katrina, You are the winner of my blog candy but I don’t have any contact information for you. Please write me at kittie747@cfl.rr.com with your mailing address so I can get your gift out to you. If I don’t hear from you within the next few days I will pick a new winner. Thank you for your comment. Kittie
The combination of window awning flowers and cute cats creates a heartwarming scene that is delightful to read.
