Home Sweet Home

Good Saturday morning.  I have a homey bird and birdhouse scene to share with you today using several new Taylored Expressions dies that I just received in the mail this week.  I used the Shade Tree Cutting Plate, Birch Tree Accessories, Build a Scene Rolling Hills and the Build a House set and paired them with Impression Obsession Leaves and Stems, Fence Border and Tiny Flowers, I couldn’t resist using my favorite color combination of red, white and green.

I cut the tree using white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  The Shade Tree cutting plate creates a tree within a frame of it’s own but I decided to cover it with a red frame to bring another element of red to my scene.  I attached one of the rolling hill sections to the back of the frame and then applied strips of mounting tape.  I sponged light blue clouds on the card base and then attached the second rolling hill section. I mounted the frame and tree over the scene base.

I cut the little birdhouse and roof, applied brown ink to the house section and assembled.  I applied tiny leaves and a flower to the roof of the birdhouse and then attached it to the tree limb.  I finished by adding a tiny portion of the picket fence to front of the birdhouse for another touch of hominess.

I cut the sign post twice, cut the sign portion off of one and attached it over top of the other to add a level of dimension.  I applied brown ink to the sign with a mini applicator and then attached the letters with touches of Crafter’s Pick glue.  I added a few sprigs of foliage and flowers to the sign post and inserted it in front of the tree trunk with mounting tape.  I inserted a few more stems of flowers across the ground area and attached the white picket fence.  I finished by attaching the birds together on the tree limb.

  1. Well Im convinced that no matter who the company or what the dies are the cards you would create with them would be stunning. This card is adorable. How you figure out what die from what company size exactly to create your scenes is mysterious to me. I cant imagine how you pull things together to create these gorgeous scenes. One mesmerized follower here, wow.
