Splitcoaststampers Dare To Get Dirty Day 2

Good Sunday morning.  My project today is another made for the Date To Get Dirty Challenges over at Splitcoaststampers.  I love creating faux distressed wood with a white wash shabby finish.  I paired the Impression Obsession Large Fence, Large Window with Box, Grass Border and Tiny Flowers with the Poppystamps Leafy Sprig Border, Leafy Sprig, Memory Box Butterfly Delights and My Favorite Things Fresh Cut Grass. I created a bendi arch with the fence and sprig border to add a another element of dimension.

I cut the fence and window using cardboard and painted with white crackle paint.  Note…Ranger stopped making colored crackle paint and it makes me so sad.  I distressed the wood with sandpaper and a file and then rubbed an antique linen ink pad directly over it to add the appearance of more age.

I attached the tiny flowers to the grass border with glossy accents and then attached both grass borders to the fence.  I cut several leafy sprigs, attached tiny flowers with glossy accents and then attached them to the window and covered the stems with the window box. I attached the window to the card base with thin strips of mounting tape. I a thin band of cardstock across the top of the leafy sprig border to use as the anchor to attached to the card base.  I covered the border with tiny flowers and attached with glossy accents.

I attached the top left corner of the leafy sprig border top the top of the card with with glossy accents.  I waited for a minute for the glue to dry and become perfectly secure.  I pushed the border to create a bend and attached the top right corner to the card base and held in place until dry and secure.

I applied mounting tape to both end fence sections.  I attached the last picked on the left to the card base and secured in place.  I pushed the fence to create a bend and attached the last picket on the right to the card base and secured in place. If I could change one thing about this I would have cut an inch off the bottom of the fence so it didn’t cover so much of the window and flower box.  Here’s a close view from the side that shows the bendi fence and border a little better.

I added several pink butterflies for the finishing touch.

  3. This is so pretty Kittie! Love the window and fence! I agree, it’s sad that Ranger is no longer making the colored crackle paint. I wanted to try your technique so I coated the cardboard with distress paint, let it dry, added a coat of distress clear rock candy crackle paint, let it dry and then distressed with sandpaper. I really like the results!
