Masculine Happy Birthday

Good Saturday morning.  My project today is very similar to many I have made in the past.  I needed a masculine birthday card for a friend and I thought the deer from the Birch Tree Accessories  and the Birch Tree Cutting Plate would be perfect.  You’ll need to take a close look at the ground area where I used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the new Impression Obsession Greetings Top Edgers.  If I had it to do over again I would have used red for the sentiment. I added a few branches of the Leafy Branch for additional dimension and interest and added a few red birds from the Small Bird Set to add a touch of color to the scene.

I started by cutting the frame and attaching the sentiment edger to it with ATG.  I cut the birch frame, applied ink to the trunks and the knot holes and attached to the back of the frame with mounting tape.  I stamped a few trees on the card base and lightly sponged in a blue sky.  I wanted to draw the eye in beyond the deer and birch.  I attached the frame to the card base with strips of rolled up 1/2” double stick tape.

I colored the deer using distress inks and mini applicator and attached in the scene with mounting tape. I attached the foliage branches in the scene using glossy accents and rolled glue dots. The red birds were attached with rolled glue dots.

Here’s a closer view of the birthday sentiment.

  2. Fantastic. I love all your cards. Your deer is excellent. Saw one card from someone else where the deer horns but then she put spots on it. I wanted to tell her but couldn’t get through. Oh well. Love all of them and look forward to seeing them every day.
