My project today was made for the DTGD challenge I am hosting. I threw everything but the kitchen sink in on this dimensional scene. I created my scene using the Impression Obsession Small Cabin, Forest, Tree Frame, Fir Trees, Small Deer and Cardinals. The frame was made using the Nesting Card Templates.
I started by cutting all the different images. The deer, cabin and trees were all cut using Kraft cardstock and colored with Vintage Photo ink. I lightly misted the all the pieces with water and applied the ink by swiping the ink pad directly on the cardstock. I assembled the cabin pieces and attached with glossy accents and rolled up glue dots. I hand cut snow layers using my deckle scissors. When I had all the parts and pieces together I began assembling the scene. I created the 5.50” x 4.25” card base using light blue paper. I cut the forest sections off from the bottom so they would fit inside the framed area and attached them to the card base with glue dots. I attached the back snow section to the card base with ATG adhesive.
The frame section was cut 1/8” wider than the card base so that I could create a Bendi Frame. You can see my step by step and video Bendi Frame tutorial on the Tutorial page at Splitcoaststampers. I attached one snow section to the back of the frame with ATG adhesive. I wanted this snow section to be part of the bowed out frame once it was attached. Next I cut the tree frame apart to fit inside the scene and attached it to the back of the frame. It is hart to see in the photo but the largest branch of the tree is attached to the top of the frame so when it is bowed out it will appear out in front of the scene. I attached a thin strip of mounting tape to both sides of the frame. I attached one side of the frame to the card base. Since the frame was cut a tiny bit wider than the card base it created a slight bow when I attached the other side of the frame to the card base. It was a little difficult for me to get a good picture that shows the bow of the frame. The 1/8” difference in width of the frame vs. the card base creates a bow about 3/8 of an inch at the center of the frame. Wow! I hope makes sense.
Once the frame was in place I could start assembling the scene. I attached the cabin in place using mounting tape. I tucked several fir trees around around the cabin and front tree and attached with mounting tape. I love how cozy the cabin looks nestled in the trees. The two deer were attached to the frame using mounting tape. I attached the two cardinals to the branches using glossy accents and the one in flight was attached with a small piece of mounting tape.
Here is a side view photo that shows the bowed out frame and the dimension of all the scenery pieces. I was going to add snow to the roof top and trees but decided to leave it off. I’ll make another one closer to winter with all the snowy touches.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend. I hope you can come over to Splitcoaststampers and take part in my fun challenge.

Oops!? I misspelled meant guessing.
Kittie, your Winter Cabin scene is marvelous, really GREAT!! It’s a treat for my eyes…
I love all your scenes, but the winter scenes I love it most.
Your Tutorial is GREAT too, Kittie!!
Thank you very much for showing us this fantastic technique.
Greetings and hugs, Eva.
This card is simply fantastic!! I absolutely love everything about it. You little tips and tricks throughout the narrative are truly awesome!! I can’t wait to give this a try. I believe I own everything you used. I just need to figure out the frame. I am not a math person … so I have to figure out how to figure out how to make a frame that is 1/8″ wider than the card. I understand the concept … the math is giving me a little trouble. LOL
You are one of the most talented (and helpful) creators out there. Don’t ever, ever stop!!
Judy
Judy, Cut your frame layer 5 5/8 inches wide instead of 5 4/8 inches. That tiny bit of difference will make the frame bow out slightly when you attach it. Attach one side securely in place and line up the other side and attach. the 1/8″ difference will create the bow for you. Check out the video tutorial here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/bendiframecard/ I think it will help.
