My project was made using the  Heron and Lake and All-in-One Frames Rectangles 2.  The Heron and Lake is a framed scene die that contains all the components  you see on my card.  The only additional die is the outer frame.  I really love how fast and easy this came together.

I cut it using hot pressed watercolor paper and sponged green on the ground area in the foreground and background.  I pulled out my little mini fern stamp from the retired SU Watercolor Minis set and stamped over the ground sections with the random image to add texture and interest.  I used markers to color the cattails and leafy branch and I used a mini applicator to apply the grey ink to the back of the heron.  I finished the bird by applying the orange to his legs and beak.

Once I had all the elements of the scene colored I attached the scene to the back of the frame with strips of mounting tape.  Next I applied ATG adhesive to the back of the frame and ground sections of the scene and attached it to the blue card base.   I secured the branches in place with a few rolled glue dots. I secured the bird in place with a piece of mounting tape.

  1. I love your cards, Kittie! You always use a frame which showcase them as the art they are — whether they are flowers or a scene. This is so realistic it could be a photograph! I love that you have the branch coming out over the frame.

  5. Wow! Love all your details in using this die, from the coloring to the popping up of certain elements to add dimension to using the All-in-one frame to really frame the image you created! Beautiful!
