Good Friday morning. Today I’m sharing a die cut bicycle Z fold card made using several new dies by Rubbernecker Stamps. For this card I used the Winter Tree, Small Ivy, Apple Cart, Deckle Hills, Tiny Flower Buds, Beach Chairs, Bicycle, Small Birds, Sun Moon, Grass #2, Grass and Knob Top Fence. I had so much fun making the Flower Z Fold card and the Barnyard Z Fold card last week and thought I would create another with a bicycle and apple tree theme. While searching around on The Paper Cut site I found they had a pre cut and scored A2 Easel Card Kit. The card is scored at 2.75″ and 5.50″.
The Card Base
- Cut three pieces of light blue cardstock to fit on the three sections of the card base and attach using ATG adhesive,
- Cut three sections of the Deckle Hills to create a grass layer and attach them to the card base using ATG adhesive.
- Cut several sections of the Small Ivy and tuck them in behind the grass layers and attach with glossy accents.
- Cut tiny flower buds using yellow cardstock, form with the small tipped stylus and molding pad and attach them to the small ivy clusters using glossy accents.
- Cut the sun using yellow cardstock and attach to the card base using a piece of mounting tape.
The Apple Tree
- Cut the tree using Kraft cardstock.
- Apply Antique Linen ink by swiping the ink pad directly over the tree and heat dry.
- Cut several sections of the individual ivy leaves and attach them to the branches using glossy accents.
- Cut the tiny apples using red cardstock, color their stems using a brown Copic marker and attach them to the tree branches using glossy accents.
- Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the trunk and several rolled up glue dots to a few key spots on the back of the tree branches and attach to the card base.
Inner Box Inserts
- Cut two sections of grass using green cardstock.
- Cut four inner box inserts, score at 1/2″ on each end and attach double stick tape to each end.
- Turn the left tab of each insert toward the back of the card and attach to the inside base of the card base. I inserted the first and last insert first and then attached the two inner sections to make sure I had them spaced evenly.
The Fence and Grass
- Cut a strip of green cardstock 11″ long and place it on the die cutting machine platform.
- Lay the grass die over the the first half of the strip of cardstock and run through the machine to cut.
- Keep the strip of cardstock on the platform and lay the grass die on the strip right where it left off from the first cut and run it through the machine. This will create one long strip of grass to use as the base for the fence.
- Cut four sections of the fence, cut the side tabs off the right side of fall four, layer the trimmed fence post over the first post and attach them together using glossy accents. Repeat this step to create the full strip of fence.
- Attach the fence to the grass strip using double stick tape.
- Score the grass/fence section at 5.50″ and 8.25″. Fold the fence in at the 5.50″ score line and out at the 8.25″ sore line.
- Apply double stick tape to the end fence post on each side of the layer, on the front 2.75″ portion of the layer and on the back 2.75″ section of the layer.
- Attach the front fence section to the to the card base, bend the fence section in toward the base and then attach the back fence section to the card base.
- Attach the right side of the grass inner box inserts to the fence section with the tabs facing out toward the front of the card.
The Bicycle and Apple Basket
- Cut the bicycle out using yellow cardstock and the wheel and bike seat out using black cardstock.
- Attach the black wheel rim to the yellow wheel section using small pieces of mounting tape.
- Attach the wheels to the bicycle body using small drops of glossy accents.
- Attach the bike seat and the petal to the bike body using glossy accents.
- Cut the basket using Kraft cardstock.
- Cut a small oval piece of red cardstock and attach several apples to the oval using glossy accents.
- Attach the oval apple piece to the basket using double stick tape.
- Apply double stick tape to the right back side of the basket and attach it to the bicycle.
Complete the Die Cut Bicycle Z Fold
- Attach the bicycle to the front fence section using pieces of mounting tape.
- Cut small birds using red cardstock and color the beaks with a black Copic marker.
- Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the birds and attach them to the card base.
- Cut the beach chairs using white cardstock.
- Attach the beach chairs to the grass insert sections using glossy accents. The chairs were attached to two different layers so they would fit in the box.
I took a picture looking down in the box portion of the card so you can see the grass sections and chairs a little better.
I hope you ave enjoyed seeing my sunny die cut bicycle Z fold card. It is so much fun to make a scenic card shape that allows so much more depth and dimension. I kept thinking of the song “Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree ” by Glen Miller. Those of you under the age of 30 probably have never heard that song. LOL! I guess I’m telling my age. Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great Friday and upcoming weekend.

Wow! This is amazing. One of the best I’ve ever seen! It belongs on the front of every craft magazine in the country!!!
I am absolutely loving these Z-fold scene cards you’ve been making, Kittie! I want to shrink myself down and have an afternoon there! Beautiful and so impressive!
This IS a “romantic card” with a song like that, Kittie! LOL LOVE IT!!! SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SCENE & SO MUCH depth & detail!!! A SUPER JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉 I AGREE with the comments above!!! 😀
As hard as it is to believe, I’ve run out of adjectives about your work. I can’t tell you how cute this is. So much work but well worth the outcome. Thank you for sharing your creativity
Love the chairs in the garden with the white picket fence, so sweet!
What a masterpiece…oh my Kittie…this is so so much work. I love it.
So wish this was on a video so I could see step by step. Will have to review tutorials on Z folds…but none like this. You amaze me with our creativity and how neat and tidy all your cards are with so much in your scenes.
Hi Kitty,
I love this card but also wish there was a video of each step.
I think I am missing something. I didn’t see the dimensions for the pieces of
cardstock; just cut three pieces of cardstock to fit on the card base but what
are the measurements for the base?
Thank you for all your hard work!
Hi Joan, thank you for asking. The insert sections are 1.50″ x 3.75″, score at .50″ on each end. I will try to do a video of making a Z fold card sometime soon. I appreciate your sweet compliment so much.
Hi Kitty,
I’m still trying to figure our this card. Do your base measurements correspond to the z cards from the Paper Cut? And by inserts, are those the strips where the chairs are put? So sorry but I am a visual learner.
Thanks so much for your help!
Forgot to ask, is there a die to cut the apples? And how tall should the grass be?
Thanks again,
Joan Schoppe
Hi Joan, The z fold measurements are 11.00″ x 5.50″. The exact measurements of The Paper Cut kits. The inserts are strips placed inside the square and I used them to attach the chairs to. Here is a link to the Apple Cart set. https://www.rubbernecker.com/productdetails.asp?productcode=5209-04D&Click=1841 The grass sections were about an 1.25″ high. I hope this helps.
Thank you so much Kitty.
Hi Kitty,
I’m sure you are tired of hearing from me but one last issue. The measurements of the folded z-fold box card, according to the Paper Cut site is 4 .25 tall. x 5.5 long. When it’s opened it is 11″ long but 4.25 tall.
Thank you so much for your patience. I will continue to work on this card.
