Spring Flowers and Butterflies Card

It’s been unusually warm here in Florida this week and it put me in the mood to make a spring flowers and butterflies card. I created an inviting open fence gate with kitty cats playing among the flowers.  For this project I used the Rubbernecker Gate and Arbor, Winter TreeLarge Ivy, Grass, Flower Buds, Flower Stems, Cats and Small Butterflies.

The Cloud Card Base

  • Cut a white A2 sized card base using white cardstock.
  • Use a blender brush and cloud stencil to apply the sky area using Tumbled Glass ink.
  • Note:  I asked Santa to bring me the full set of Life Changing Blender Brushes by Picket Fence Studios.  I purchased a two set of brushes a while back to see if I would like using them and was so impressed.  I have always used an ink blending tool to create my cloudy sky backgrounds but found the large blender brush made applying the ink so much easier.

The Grass and Fence

  • Cut the fence sections using black and white cardstock and the grass sections using green cardstock.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to one of the grass sections and attach it to the card base.
  • Attach the fence sections together using glossy accents.
  • Use strips of double stick tape along the bottom and side of the fence to attach it to the card base.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the grass section and attach it to the fence.

The Tree and Leaves

  • Cut the tree using Kraft cardstock. and the ivy leaves using green cardstock.
  • Apply Antique Linen ink to the tree using the direct to paper technique.  Rub the ink pad directly over the die cut.
  • Form the leaves using the leaf tool and molding pad and then attach them to the tree branches using glossy accents.
  • Apply rolled up glue dots to several key spots on the back of the tree and tuck it in behind the fence and attach to the card base.

The Flowers, Cats and Butterflies

  • Cut the flowers and butterflies using pastel colored cardstock and the flower stems using green cardstock.
  • Form the tiny flowers using a small tipped stylus and molding pad.
  • Attach three flowers to each stem using glossy accents.
  • Tuck the flower stems in behind the grass sections and attach using glossy accents.
  • Cut the cats using white cardstock, color in their markings using a black Copic marker and attach them to the scene using pieces of mounting tape.
  • Finish by attaching the three small butterflies to the scene using glossy accents.

  1. Spring is popping here Kittie on your lovely card…always so much attention to detail. It has been so warm here in NC…yesterday was more like summer….could have worn shorts on my walk. Good to get a sneak preview of what is to come.. And of course a few kitties sneaking around…
