A Pretty Winter Slimline Card!

This winter slimline card can be used for the whole season!

I have been cooling off making some snowy cards and this winter slimline card is one I just couldn’t wait to share! It uses two of the new dies from the Kittiekraft by Rubbernecker collection recently released and it’s such a sweet little scene. I did make this one just a touch Christmassy but you can see how by swapping out or even leaving off those tiny holiday touches will still leave you with a lovely card perfect for lots of different occasions.

The Card Base and Frame

  • Cut a an 8.50″ x 7.00″ card base using white cardstock.
  • Use blue cardstock to cut a frame using the Slimline Nested Scallop with Stitch layer.
  • Place it back on the cutting platform, line up the Slimline Nested Stitch die on the layer, secure in place with masking tape and run through the machine to cut the frame.
  • Cut a blue 8.00″ x 3.00″ layer to fit behind the frame.  Pro Tip:  I trimmed my layer a little so it would be totally hidden behind the frame.
  • Use white pigment ink to stamp the frame and blue layer with the Splatter Background stamp.
  • Apply white embossing powder to the stamped pieces and heat with the heat gun.

The Frame and Snow Layers

  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the blue snow layer and attach it to the white card base.
  • Cut two white snow layers using the Slimline Hills die.  Note:  The slimline hills were made with curves that would work well on slimline cards but they are also great for standard cards as well.  It’s these attentions to detail that make me so happy to be able to work with Rubbernecker to bring these designs to you.
  • Attach one hill layer directly to the back of the frame using double stick tape.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach the second hill layer,
  • Apply double stick tape to the back side edges of the hill layers.
  • Line up the frame and hills over the blue scene base and attach.

The Winter Village

  • Cut two full sets of the Winter Village.
  • Secure all the windows and doors in place by applying double stick tape to the back of each house.
  • Use green cardstock to cut one each of the three sizes of tree,
  • Attach them together to create one large Christmas tree.
  • Cut a star from the Globe Tree set using gold cardstock and attach to the top of the green tree using glossy accents.
  • Color the cross on the church using a gold marker.
  • Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the houses and trees and attach them to the background and snow layer.  Pro Tip:  Staggering  the houses and trees  creates a natural looking village.
  • Use green cardstock to cut greenery branches, cut the tips over the branches and attach to a few of the houses using glossy accents.
  • Punch out red 1/16″ circles using a circle punch. pick up the circles with tweezers and attach them to the greenery tips using glossy accents.  Pro Tip:  Adding small touches of color to a monochromatic scene adds interest.  I find that adding touches of color to a monochromatic project improves my photographs.
