Have you ever seen such a charming little die cut village?

I cannot get over how many different ways you can use this adorable little die cut village complete with seven sweet structures, including a little country church. This is called the Winter Village Die set but as you can see, it is totally adaptable to all our glorious seasons.

The Card Base and Frame

  • Cut a white A2 sized card base and a 5.50″ x 4.25″ green layer.
  • Attach the green layer to the card base using ATG adhesive.
  • Cut the scalloped frame layer using light blue cardstock.
  • Use the second die from the set to cut the inner frame opening.  Pro Tip:  I secured the die in place using masking tape to guarantee a centered cut.
  • Cut the clouds using white cardstock and the 2 grass layers using green cardstock.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back top of the frame and attach the cloud section.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back bottom of the frame and attach one grass section.

The Scene Base

  • Use blue cardstock to cut a blue layer for the scene background.
  • Attach the second grass layer to the blue scene base using ATG adhesive.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the blue scene background.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the blue scene background and attach to the card base.

The Houses and Church

  • Cut the church and houses twice each using white cardstock.
  • Color one set of the two houses using blue markers.
  • Color the roof sections of one set of the buildings using brown markers.
  • Cut the roof sections off of the buildings and attach them to the second set of buildings using glossy accents.
  • Attach small pieces of vellum to the back of both houses to cover the windows using glossy accents.
  • Apply red and mustard yellow alcohol ink to a small piece of white cardstock to create a stained glass appearance for the church windows and blend the two colors using a clear alcohol marker.
  • Attach the colored cardstock to the back of the church using glossy accents.

The Tree, Leaves and Tiny Flower Stems

  • Use brown cardstock to cut one branch section of the tree.
  • Use green cardstock to cut the tiny acorn bottoms, place them face up on the molding pad and form them using the leaf tool.
  • Attach the leaves to the trees using glossy accents.  Pro Tip:  I love to use my reverse tweezers from my tool set to pick up and attach small pieces like the tiny leaves.
  • Cut a second branch section of the tree die using green cardstock.
  • Trim off several small tips of the branches to use as flower stems.
  • Punch out several 1/16″ red circles and attach them to the branch tips using glossy accents.

Assemble the Die Cut Village Scene

  • Tuck the houses and church in behind the grass sections and attach to the scene base using pieces of mounting tape.
  • Apply a thin rope of double stick tape to the back of the tree and attach to the scene base background.
  • Tuck the little flower stems in behind the grass sections and attach using glossy accents.
  • Finish the scene by cutting a small flower section using yellow cardstock and attach it in behind the cloud using mounting tape.
