Get this cute idea to make some sweet, whimsical handmade Halloween cards!

I don’t love gory, creepy projects but I DO love making whimsical handmade Halloween cards! And that got so much easier thanks to the Spook-tacular Paper Pad from Rubbernecker. I’ve been sharing quite a few cute Halloween cards lately and that’s mostly because I just can’t stop making them! The patterns on the paper are so adorable and sweet and they are all treat and no trick!

To make this card I used the newly released Rubbernecker Fancy Fence and Spook-Tacular designer paper paired with the Outside Scallop FrameWitches, Owl and Halloween Tree and Deckle Hills. I thought this paper made such a fun background – the cats and critters and witches all levitating above that beautifully detailed wrought iron fence……  Read on for my tips for the making and see if this doesn’t make you want to get your hands on that Paper Pad and make some cute, not gory, Halloween cards!

One of today's whimsical handmade Halloween cards with an ornate die cut wrought iron fence in front of a sweet patterned paper.

Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
  • Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ piece of the Spook-Tacular designer paper.
  • Attach the designer paper section to the card base using ATG adhesive.

Fancy Fence

  • Use black cardstock to cut the wrought iron fence sections and white cardstock to cut the brick fence sections.
  • Apply Crimson ink to the brick sections using a mini applicator.
  • Use Pumpkin ink and a mini applicator to apply an orange hue over the red ink.
  • Finish the brick sections by randomly applying touches of Pecan ink using a mini applicator.
  • Use glossy accents to attach the two gate fence sections together.
  • Attach the fence sections to the brick sections using glossy accents.
  • Cut the tiny lamp window sections using white cardstock and color them with a yellow marker.
  • Attach the yellow window sections to the back of the lamps using glossy accents.
  • Use glossy accents to attach the lamps to the Brick sections.

Die cuts and patterned paper from Rubbernecker used to create whimsical handmade Halloween cards loaded with not-so-spooky details.

Frame and Ground

  • Use black cardstock to cut the scalloped frame and deckle hill section.
  • Attach the deckle hill section and fence to the back of the frame using double stick tape.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape all the way around the back of the fence and brick fence sections.
  • Attach the frame and fence to the card base.

Witch and Tree

  • Cut the witch and tree using black cardstock.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the tree, tuck it in behind the fence and attach to the card base.
  • Attach the witch to the sky area of the card base using a piece of mounting tape.

Not spooky but instead whimsical handmade Halloween cards like this can be created easily using patterned paper as a background with die cut details.

Here are the things I used today – remember, there are so many designs in this Paper Pad that you can make many versions of this card, each with its own special twist.
