An idea for unique Christmas cards handmade from your home to theirs!
We crafters love ideas for unique Christmas cards handmade using items we may have on hand or can get a lot of use from to save time and money. Well, this card is one in the little series I’ve shared showing how many cute ideas you can get using the Rubbernecker Ho Ho Ho Paper Pad. I shared this card first and then this one and now I have today’s to show off the awesome versatility of this collection of adorable patterns.
When I first got my hands on the Paper Pads from Rubbernecker, I was immediately impressed by the quality of the card stock. Then, when I perused the patterns I just flipped for the designs in this Ho Ho Ho collection because I could see how many cards I would be able to create using it and just a few dies I already had on hand. After you get your own Ho Ho Ho pad, take a look through what you have in your stash and see what you have that will work with the patterns. I’ve been able to make about two dozen cards using the patterns and just a handful of holiday dies because you can mix and match and everything just looks so great!
For this card I used the Rubbernecker Ho Ho Ho 6×6 Paper Pad, Winter Cocoa, Winter Village, Deckle Hills, Greenery #1 and Tiny Ornaments. I’ve got the steps laid out for you below and then what I used to make this card in case you want to make the same one.
Card Base
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
- Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ piece of Ho Ho Ho designer paper and attach it to the card base using ATG adhesive.
- Cut a 1.75″ x 5.50″ white layer and a 2.00″ red layer.
- Run the white layer thru a straight crimper for a touch of dimension.
- Attach the white crimped layer to the red layer using ATG adhesive.
- Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the sentiment layers and attach it to the card base.
- Cut the tiny ornaments using red cardstock and a length of gold metallic string long enough to string across the white layer.
- Attach the string to the white layer in a random pattern using a few tiny glue dots.
- Apply tiny pop dots to the ornaments and attach them to the card base and making sure to cover the few glue dots.
Cocoa Mug Base and Scene
- Cut the mug using red cardstock and scallop top section using white cardstock.
- Apply glossy accents to the scalloped mug top and attach to the mug.
- Use white cardstock to cut a deckle hills layer and the tiny house.
- Use the mug die to cut out the snow layer to match the bottom of the mug and attach it to the mug using glossy accents..
- Cut the little trees using green cardstock and the star using bright yellow cardstock.
- Tuck the largest tree in behind the snow layer and with a tiny touch of glossy accents on the back bottom and a tiny pop dot on the top.
- Tuck the tiny house in behind the snow layer and attach with a piece of mounting tape.
- Attach the two additional trees to the scene using pieces of mounting tape.
Candy Cane and Whipped Cream
- Use white cardstock to cut the whipped cream section and run it through the wave crimper for dimension.
- Cut the candy cane base using white cardstock, red cardstock for the stripes and attach the stripes using glossy accents.
- Coat the whipped cream piece with white embossing paste using your finger and allow it to dry.
- Apply glossy accents to the lower edge of the whipped cream piece and attach to the mug.
- Use green cardstock to cut a greenery branch and red cardstock to punch out tiny berries.
- Attach the berries to the greenery branch using glossy accents and then attach the branch to the back of the whipped cream section using glossy accents.
- Adhere the candy cane to the back of the whipped cream section using glossy accents.
- Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the mug and attach it to the white layer.
Here are the things I used from Rubbernecker for my card – you can, of course, swap out any of them for your own ideas or for what you have on hand:
