As beautiful and detailed as this purple and white handmade card is, it is also incredibly easy to make – check it out!
I adore all the details on this purple and white handmade card and when you see how easy they are to make, you are going to want to grab everything I used and make one of these in every single shade you can! Combine the design with any sentiment and you’ve got a card that is practically perfect for any occasion.
To make this card I used the Rubbernecker Stackable Flowers and Leaves #3 and Floral Frame dies and my own Kittie Says Friends stamp set for the sentiment. The flower is very easy to make as you will see below and the technique I used to add that rich dimension can be applied to any layered die cut flower.
Let’s take a look at the making so you can get excited about how you want to use this beautiful design!
Card Base and Floral Frame
- Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the Floral Frame.
- Secure the card base and sentiment stamp in the MISTI and stamp the sentiment using Nocturne ink. Pro Tip: I used the frame laid over the card base to judge where I wanted the sentiment to be.
- Apply thin strips of mounting tape all the way around the back of the frame border.
- Attach the frame to the card base.
- Use white cardstock attached to a Scor-Tap Sheet to cut several sets of the smaller leaf branch sections from the Floral Frame. Pro Tip: I wanted to keep the leaf centers attached.
- Set the leaves aside.
Forming the Die Cut Flowers
- Use purple cardstock to cut two sections of the largest flower in the Stackable Flowers and Leaves #3 set and one section of the two smaller sizes.
- Use needle nose pliers or tweezers to curl one side of each petal down.
- Use the pliers to roll the other side of the petal up. Pro Tip: I like to use the needle nose pliers instead of tweezers because they create a stronger hold when turning the petals. This is one of my favorite ways to add dimension to flower petals.
- Use glossy accents to attach the flower layers together making sure to offset each layer for a natural looking flower.
- Use purple cardstock to cut several of the smallest flowers in the set.
- Place the tiny flowers face up on the molding pad and gently push down in the centers using a small tipped stylus.
Adding the Die Cut Flowers to the Die Cut Frame
- Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of the flower and attach it to the top corner of the frame and card base.
- Tuck the branches under the flower and attach using glossy accents.
- Apply glossy accents to the back of the tiny flowers and attach them to the branches.
- Finish by attaching a 1/4″ white circle to the large flower using a small piece of mounting tape.
- Attach the tiny white circles to the tiny flowers using glossy accents. Pro Tip: I save all the negative leftover circles from cutting eyelet dies. They are always handy to have to use for flower centers, snowflakes, etc. Pro Tip: I always place these small circles on my molding pad because it makes it easy for me to scoot my tweezers under them to pick them up. Pro Tip: I always wait to place the little flower centers after they are attached to the branches. They are stable and much easier to place the circles with my tweezers.
