Monochrome Black and White Card

I love how sophisticated and elegant this handmade monochrome black and white card turned out! There’s something so understated about a black and white card and a monochromatic design allows your main feature to really stand out.  To make this card I used the Brass and Bliss Floral Monochrome 6 x 6 Paper Pad, Decorative Rectangle, Classic Nested Oval, Spring Flowers and Branches and Leaves.

A monochrome black and white card with a beautiful floral patterned paper as a background with crisp embellishments made with dies.

Card Base and Frame

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base and the Decorative Rectangle.
  • Use a piece of Floral Monochrome paper to cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer and attach it to the card base using ATG adhesive.
  • Place the decorative layer on the cutting platform, line up the oval die, secure in place with masking tape and cut the frame opening.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.

A pretty monochrome black and white card with crisp die cut layers and die cut embellishments set against a dynamic floral patterned paper in the background.

Flower and Branches

  • Use white cardstock to cut the Spring Flowers and the Branches and Leaves.  Note:  I cut one extra of the largest flower and three sets of the branches.
  • Use needle nose pliers or tweezers to form the flower petals.  Check out this post to see photos of how I use the pliers to bend the edges of the petals.
  • place the flower sections face up on the molding pad and push gently down in the centers using a large round stylus.
  • Attach the flowers sections together using glossy accents and make sure to offset each layer.
  • Apply glossy accents to the back of the flower and attach it to the card base.
  • Use black cardstock to cut the round flower center, place face down on the molding pad and push gently down in the center with a round stylus.
  • Place a small piece of mounting tape to the back of the flower center and attach it to the flower.
  • Trim the branch sections to fit the arrangement, tuck them under the flower and attach using glossy accents.
