A sunny striped background and die cut blossoms are the perfect combination on this handmade tropical flowers card!
Today I get to show off this pretty handmade tropical flowers card that gets its “oomph” from the bright and sunny yellow striped background. To make this card I used the Brass and Bliss Tattered Lines 6×6 Stencil, Spring Flowers, Foliage Trio and Nested Rectangle with Square Holes and Nested Rectangles.
Card Base and Frame
- Cut an A2 sized card base and the frame layer using white cardstock.
- Cut the Nested Rectangle with Square Holes.
- Place the rectangle layer back on the cutting platform, line up the smaller Nested Rectangle die, secure it in place and run through the machine.
- Secure the Tattered Lines stencil over a piece of white cardstock and apply Color Fuse Lemon ink using a Large Blending Brush.
- Trim the striped layer to fit behind the frame and attach it to the card base using double stick tape.
- Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.
Tropical Flowers and Foliage
- Cut the Spring Flowers using yellow, blue and red cardstock. Pro Tip: I touched up the edges of the flower petals with matching ink and blender brush.
- Place the flower sections face down on the molding pad, push down and roll a large round stylus around the back of the petals to add dimension.
- Turn the flower sections over and push down in the center of each with a small tipped stylus.
- Attach the flower sections together using glossy accents, making sure to offset them for a natural look.
- Apply a generous amount of glossy accents to the back of each flower and attach them in a close grouping on the card base.
- Use green cardstock to cut the Foliage Trio sections and score down the center of each leaf using a leaf tool.
- Trim the foliage sections as necessary, tuck the sections under the flowers and attach them using glossy accents.
- Finish the flowers by attaching 1/4″ white circles to the flower centers using small pieces of mounting tape.
