Cute Card Ideas For Halloween

Cute Monsters Make Cute Card Ideas for Halloween!

These cute card ideas for Halloween PROVE that monsters don’t always have to be scary! Even though this Cute Monsters set isn’t really something I might choose for myself, I was excited to see that the parts and pieces are so fun and mixable that I just had to sit down and play with them! Between spooky Halloween cards and super CUTE Halloween cards like these, well, Rubbernecker sure has us covered!

To make this card I used the newly released Cute Monsters #1 and Cute Monsters #2 paired with the Inside Scallop Nested, Upper Case Alphabet w/ Stitch, Lower Case Alphabet w/ Stitch and Grass.

One of my cute card ideas for Halloween made using a trio of very cute die cut monsters

The Card Base and Grass

  • Cut the card base and the scallop layer using white cardstock.
  • Apply masking tape around the border of the scallop layer and apply a cloudy blue background using a blender brush and light blue ink.
  • Cut a 4.00″ x 5.24″ layer using green cardstock and attach it to the card base using ATG adhesive.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the scene layer and attach it to the card base.
  • Cut a strip of grass using green cardstock and attach it to the card base.

One of my cute card ideas for Halloween with very cute die cut monsters in soft colors

The Sentiment and Monsters

  • Cut the upper and lower case letters using bright yellow cardstock.
  • Apply threads of rolled up double stick tape to the back of the letters and attach them to the scene layer. rolled double stick tape 2
  • Note:  I wanted to be sure I’d have enough space for all the letters on a card front so I set them in place before I apply adhesive.  Once that I saw they would fit I attached the H and the N in place and then filled in with the rest of the letters.
  • Use brightly colored cardstock to cut the monsters.
  • Mix and match the body parts and attach them together using glossy accents.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the monsters and attach them to the scene base.

As I said, I usually gravitate toward things based more in nature but these Cute Monsters made me want to step outside of that and I am just getting such a kick out of these little fellas trying to be scary but just ending up cute! Are you thinking about your own cute card ideas you can make with these? Remember you can always share your creations on the Rubbernecker Facebook page so we can all see what you are making!

Spooky Halloween Cards!

Make some SPOOKY Halloween Cards!

I love cute Halloween cards and even have some coming up/one of which you can see here .  But sometimes I just have to make a few spooky Halloween cards for those friends of mine who love the more scary aspects of the day. Today I used a classic combination of purples and black plus new dies from Rubbernecker to add that creepy feeling. The black witch silhouette against the bright yellow moon and those little jack-o-lanterns add a little punch but keep that spooky vibe.

The dies used to make this card are Owl and Halloween Tree, Jack-o-Lanterns, Wrought Iron Fence, Witches, Grass and Nested Circles.

An example of spooky halloween cards using an eerie tree, witch silhouette and wrought iron fence die cuts all from Rubbernecker

The Card Base

  • Cut an A2 sized card base using white cardstock and a 5.50″ x 4.25″ piece of black cardstock.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the black piece of cardstock and attach to the card base.
  • Cut a purple piece of cardstock 5.00″ x 3.75″ and a light purple piece of cardstock 4.75″ x 3.50″.
  • Attach the purple and light purple pieces of cardstock together using ATG adhesive.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the two layers and attach them to the card base.

The Fence and Grass

  • Cut two sections of the fence and two 3.50″ sections of grass using black cardstock.
  • Attach the two fence sections together using glossy accents and then trim to 3.50″ wide.
  • Attach the fence to the front of one of the grass sections using double stick tape.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the fence/grass section and attach it to the card base.
  • Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the second fence section and attach it to the card base.

Easy to make spooky halloween cards using several black cardstock die cuts, a bright yellow moon and orange pumpkins

The Owl and Halloween Tree

  • Cut two trees using black cardstock and the owl sections using black, gray and yellow cardstock.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the tree trunk and branches, tuck it in behind the fence and attach to the card base.
  • Cut the branches off the second tree, tuck them in behind the fence and attach using glossy accents.
  • Assemble the owl parts and attach them together using glossy accents.
  • Apply a piece of mounting tape to the back of the owl and attach to the card base right above one of the branches.

The Jack-o-Lanterns and Witch

  • Cut the pumpkins using yellow cardstock, the stems using white cardstock and the jack-o-lantern faces using black cardstock.
  • Use a mini applicator and orange ink to color the pumpkins.  Note:  I started with yellow cardstock for the pumpkins so the brightness would show under the shades of orange.
  • Use a mini applicator to apply green ink to the stems.
  • Assemble the jack-o-lanterns and attach together using glossy accents.  Note:  I use my reverse tweezers from my Paper Sculpting Kit to pick up the small pieces.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the jack-o-lanterns, tuck them in behind the grass and attach to the scene.
  • Use a circle die to cut the bright yellow moon and black cardstock to cut the witch.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the moon and attach to the card base.
  • Apply mounting tape to the back of the witch and attach it to the moon.

Cute Halloween Cards with Owls!

Cute Halloween Cards with Owls IN COSTUME!

Oh my gosh – when I saw this new set of die cuts I just knew I was going to make some cute Halloween cards that would make us ALL crack up! Each of these adorable owls were made using the new Rubbernecker Build an Owl set and sports one of the complete owl costumes available in the Owl Halloween add-ons set. Now, I DID make this as a slimline Halloween card using the new Slimline Squares Frame so you could see all three owls at once, but imagine the possibilities of popping just ONE of these cuties on a regular card! They are so cute and they don’t need a whole lot more with them and everyone from the smallest Halloween fan to someone who is glad they don’t have to get up every ten seconds to hand out candy will be tickled!

one of my cute Halloween cards on a slimline base to show off three adorable owls in their own little die cut Halloween costumes

The Slimline Base

  • Cut a 7.00″ x 8.50 orange card base and sore down the center.
  • Use purple cardstock to cut a 3.25″ x 8.25″ layer and attach to the card base using ATG adhesive.  Note:  I ended up trimming off a little of the purple so plenty of the orange would show.
  • Cut the slimline layer using white cardstock.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the white slimline layer and attach it to the purple layer.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the layers and attach them to the orange card base.

An example of cute Halloween cards made using owl die cuts and additional die cuts to create tiny adorable owl costumes!

The Owls and Costumes

  • Cut the owl bodies using light gray cardstock and the body parts using white and dark gray cardstock.
  • Mix and match the body parts and attach them to the owls using glossy accents.
  • Cut the witch hat, bat wings and Dracula cape using black cardstock .
  • Cut the the hat border using orange cardstock and the cape collar and ties using red cardstock.
  • Attach the pieces to the owls using glossy accents.
  • Use white cardstock to cut the mummy costume.
  • Use red and purple cardstock to cut the lollipop.
  • Apply touches of light gray ink to the edges of the mummy using a mini applicator.
  • Attach the mummy costume to the owl using pieces of mounting tape.

So, are you a fan of CUTE Halloween cards or the spookier type like my Owl and Halloween Tree card.  Either way, don’t these little fellas just crack you up? I’d love to hear what you think when you get your hands on these new dies and try them out for yourself! Oh, by the way, if you love the Halloween costumes then you will want to check out the Owl Christmas add-ons as well. You can find all the new dies in the What’s New category.

Halloween Pop Up Box Card

Today I’m sharing a Halloween pop up box card with a witch, spooky house, bats, ghosts and spiders.  For this project I used the Rubbernecker Stamps Spooky House, Spooky Tree, Witches, Ghosts, Bats and Spiderwebs and Lower Case Alphabet with Stitch.  I used the A2 Pop Up Box Card Kit by The Paper Cut for the box base.  I loved the idea of having all the black images against the orange background but gave little thought to how hard it would be to get good photos.  Ugh!  Sorry it is hard to see all of the elements clearly.

Come see how I made this scary Halloween pop up box card.

Assemble the 3D Pop Up Box Base

  • Cut the layering pieces.  The designer paper is from a long ago retired collection.
    • 2   2″ x 5 3/8″
    •   2″ x 2 5/8″
  • Attach the paper layers to the inside and outside card base using ATG adhesive.
  • Apply 1/2″ double stick tape to the tab, line it up and secure the box closed.
  • Cut the black sections to fit the tabs included in the kit and attach them with ATG adhesive.
  • Apply 1/2″ double stick tape to the tabs on both sides and insert them inside the box.
  • Note:  I use the Be Creative double stick tape on the tabs because it is much stronger than the ATG adhesive.  I like to use the ATG adhesive on layering paper because it is fast and easy.

Come see how I made this Halloween pop up box card.

The Spooky Elements

  • Cut the house using black cardstock and cut bright yellow cardstock to fit behind the windows.
  • Apply yellow Wink of Stella to the yellow cardstock, cut to fit behind the window and attach using Connect glue.
  • Attach the windows to the front of the house. Note:  Connect glue dries perfectly clear and doesn’t show if it squeezes out a little when attaching a piece.
  • Cut the witch, tree, bats, spiders and spiderwebs using black cardstock and cut the ghosts using white cardstock..
  • Apply glossy accents to the lower section of the house and attach to the box insert.
  • Use strips of mounting tape to attach the spooky tree, ghost and witch to the back wall of the box.
  • Attach the bats to the tree branches and tuck the branches to the box inserts using glossy accents.
  • Use Connect glue to attach the spider webs to the box flaps.
  • Cut the eek using black cardstock and attach to the flaps using small pieces of mounting tape.
  • Finish by attaching the spiders to the flaps using pieces of mounting tape.

I had so much fun making this Halloween pop up box card.  Although there are lots of parts and pieces it was pretty fast to make.  I wanted to get one more Halloween themed card in before the season was over.  I hope you enjoyed seeing my project.  Check out this Pinterest link to find more Halloween pop up box card inspiration.  Here is a link to all of my recent pop up box cards.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great day.

Clean and Simple Trick or Treat Witches

Good Friday morning.  Today I’m sharing a clean and simple trick or treat witches card made using the Rubbernecker Stamps Witches set paired with the Wrought Iron Fence.  This card only took a few minutes to make and would be easy to recreate if you needed to make several Halloween cards.  The designer paper background is from a retired paper pack that I have had for years.

Come see how I made this fun clean and simple trick or treat witches card.

The Wrought Iron Background Strip

  • Cut a piece of cream cardstock and black strip of cardstock and attach them together using ATG adhesive.
  • Use black cardstock to cut two wrought iron fence sections.
  • Trim the bottom portion of the fences off, leaving only the decorative top portions and attach the two sections together using glossy accents.
  • Apply double stick tape to the back of the layer and attach the fence section.
  • Attach the white and black layer to the card base using strips of mounting tape.

Come see how I made this clean and simple trick or treat witches card.

The Witches

  • Cut the witches using black cardstock.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the witches.
  • Line the witches up evenly on the background strip and attach.

Come see how I made this spooky clean and simple trick or treat witches card.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing my clean and simple trick or treat witches card. For some reason the middle witch reminds me of Samantha from Bewitched.  LOL!  Do you need inspiration to get you in the mood to make your Halloween cards?  Check out this Pinterest page for lots of ideas.  Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great upcoming weekend.
