Die Cut Fall Tree Scene with Squirrels

Good Saturday morning.  I have a colorful die cut fall tree scene with squirrels to share with you today with a sneak peek at the new Rubbernecker Winter Tree die.  The tree is bare with no leaves and I will show it soon in a snowy scene with snow on the branches.  I paired the tree with Tiny Leaves, Picket Fence, Chicken and Squirrels, Grass Set and the background layer was made using the Nested Rectangle Scallop set.

Come see how I made this die cut fall tree scene with squirrels card.

The Tree and Leaves

  • Cut the tree using white cardstock and color with a walnut Copic marker.
  • Cut two sections of the maples leaves using glossy accents.
  • Apply Fired Brick, Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade inks to the leaves using mini applicators.
  • Gently form the leaves using  leaf tool from the Garden Tool Kit and molding pad.
  • Attach the leaves to the tree branches using glossy accents.
  • Apply sparkle to leaves using Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay pen.

Color the Squirrels

  • Cut the squirrels using white cardstock.
  • Apply Antique Linen and Vintage Photo inks using mini applicators.

Come see how I made this pretty die cut fall tree scene with squirrels card.

Assemble the Die Cut Fall Tree Scene and Squirrels

  • Cut the scalloped layer using blue cardstock.
  • Cut the grass sections using green cardstock.
  • Use the scalloped die to cut the front grass layer to create a matching scalloped edge.
  • Cut the picket fence section using white cardstock.
  • Attach the back grass section to the scalloped layer using double stick tape.
  • Attach the front grass section to the scene using a thin strips of mounting tape.
  • Tuck the tree in behind the grass and attach to the background using thin strips of mounting tape and rolled glue dots.
  • Tuck the fence sections in behind the grass and attach with thin strips of mounting tape.
  • Attach falling leaves in the sky area and tucked in around the grass and attach with glossy accents.
  • Attach the squirrels in the scene with pieces of mounting tape.

Come see how I made this lovely die cut fall tree scene with squirrels card.

I had lots of fun making this die cut fall tree scene with squirrels.  Coloring the tiny leaves is a bit labor intensive but well worth the effort.  I hope you enjoyed seeing my sneak peek of the tree and I hope you’ll check out the new Rubbernecker dies being released on Tuesday.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.

Fall Leaves With Die Cuts

Good Sunday morning.  I have a colorful fall leaves with die cuts card to share with you today.  I know we are in the middle of summer right now but I love playing with new toys. I  just got the Rubbernecker 3019 Splatter Leaves Stamps and 3019D Splatter Leaves Dies this week and couldn’t wait to see what I could do with them.  I used the 5131D Square Combo # 1 OPC to frame the sentiment and attach my leaves.

Come see how I made this framed fall leaves with die cuts project.

The Sentiment

Did you know that Distress Inks stay wet long enough to emboss with them?  I use them to stamp and emboss sentiments all the time but I never remember to mention it.  I secured the stamp and cardstock in my MISTI and stamped the sentiment on white cardstock using Vintage Photo ink, applied Ranger super fine clear embossing powder and heated.  I use super fine powder for all my embossing.  The fine powder is especially perfect for fine sentiments.

The Frame

I applied double stick tape to the back of the two largest frames to attach them together.  Next, I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it over the sentiment on the card base.

Come see how I made this framed fall leaves with die cuts card.

Coloring Fall Leaves with Die Cuts

I began by cutting two sets of leaves out using white cardstock.  I didn’t want to have the outline of the leaf stamped.  I just wanted the inner markings to show so I used a brown marker to apply the ink.  I lined up the acrylic block and stamp over each die cut leaf and stamped. I used mini applicators to apply inks to color the leaves.  I applied the Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick  in patches on the leaves and then used Wild Honey to shade over all three inks to blend them together.  Take a look at my Leaves with Distress Inks tutorial if you would like to see step by step pictures of my process.  I used a few different ink colors in the tutorial but the process is the same. I also have a little short video tutorial on YouTube.

Come see how I made this colorful framed fall leaves with die cuts card.

Thanks for coming by to see my fall leaves with die cuts project.  I hope you have a great Sunday and that you take some time to get your fingers inky.

Die Cut Fall Leaves Card

Good Monday morning.  I have a die cut fall leaves card to share with you today using new dies made by Rubbernecker Stamps.  I used the new Border’s #3 for the decorative base and created a pretty fall swag arrangement using Tiny Leaves and Berries Branches

Come see how I made this pretty tiny die cut fall leaves card.

The Stitched Decorative Layer

  • Line up the white cardstock and die and run through the die cut machine.
  • Line up the orange cardstock, cut and line up a second time to create a 1/4″ orange border layer.
  • Apply 1/8″ double stick tape to the back of the orange border and attach it to the white layer.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the white layer and attach it to the orange card base.

Come see how I made this tiny die cut fall leaves card.

The Branches and Leaves

  • Cut two sets of the berry branches using Kraft cardstock.
  • Use direct ink pad to cardstock technique to apply Antique Linen and Vintage Photo ink to the branches.
  • Use a damp baby wipe to smooth the ink over the branches and set aside to dry or dry with heat gun.
  • Cut two sets of tiny leaves using white cardstock.
  • Use mini applicators to apply Fired Brick, Peeled Paint and Spiced Marmalade ink to the leaves.
  • Attach the leaves to the berry sections of the branches using glossy accents.

Arrange the Branches

  • Attach two full branches to the white layer using glossy accents, one left and one right.
  • Cut small sections off of a third branch and attach with glossy accents to fill in the center of the arrangement.
  • Attach a bow to the center of the arrangement using glue dots.
  • Secure a few key spots of the branches to the card base using rolled up glue dots.

Come see how I made this colorful tiny die cut fall leaves card.

I enjoyed making this die cut fall leaves card and look forward to making more in the next few weeks.  You can check out my Coloring Leaves video if you would like to see how I colored my leaves.  The video shows larger leaves but the technique is the same for the tiny leaves.  I sure appreciate you coming by today and I hope you have a great week.

Fall Leaf Wreath Card

Good Monday morning.  Today I’m sharing a fall leaf wreath card using the Rubbernecker Stamps 3 Maple Leaves and framed using the Nested Rectangle X Stitch set.  The wreath base was cut using the Nested Circles set. The sentiment is from the Splatter Leaves set.   I colored the leaves using Distress Inks and then embossed them using Versa and clear embossing powder.  I love how the clear embossing brightens the colors on the leaves and that they pop off the white background.

Come check out how I made this fall leaf wreath card.

The Frame

  • Line up the second and third sized dies from the Nested Rectangle X Stitch set together on the magnetic platform.
  • Place the white cardstock over the dies and run through the die cutting machine.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the card base.

Come check out how I made this colorful fall leaf wreath card.

The Fall Leaf Wreath

  • Cut the leaves using white cardstock.
  • Use mini applicators to apply Shabby Shutters, Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick ink to the leaves.  Check out my short leaf coloring video on YouTube to see how I color my leaves. You can also see my step by step picture tutorial here.
  • Apply Versa and clear embossing powder to the leaves and heat.
  • Cut a wreath base using two dies from the Nested Circles set.
  • Gently bend and form the leaves with your fingers and attach around the wreath base using glossy accents.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape all the way around the wreath base and attach it to the card base.
  • Finish by stamping the sentiment on white cardstock using Versafine Clair Verdant ink and attach it to the wreath using pieces of mounting tape.

Come check out how I made this clean and simple fall leaf wreath card.

I had such a good time making this fall leaf wreath card.  It is fun figuring out how to place the colors on the leaves to make each one a little different from the other.  Check out the Pinterest Fall Leaf Wreath card link for more inspiration.  You can also find more fall leaves inspiration on my blog by following this link.  I sure do appreciate you coming by today and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Fall Side Step Card

I changed things up a bit from making spring projects and made a fall side step card.  I wanted to use the new Rubbernecker Garden Tools set again and my mind jumped straight to falling leaves, pumpkins in the garden and squirrels jumping from place to place looking for acorns.  For this project I also used the Winter Tree, the new Spring Leaves, Wagon, Pumpkins and Ivy, Chicken/Squirrels, Leaves and Greenery, Picket Fence and Grass.  The card base was made using The Paper Cut Outer Stair Step Card kit.

It is so much fun to create a dimensional scene like this fall side step card. Click on the photo to see how I made this card.

The Side Step Card Base

  • Cut a piece of white cardstock 3 3/8″ wide and tall enough to match the front panel in height when folded down.
  • Apply clouds using light blue ink, a blender brush and cloud template to both the front panel and tall side step panel.
  • Use Green cardstock to cut grass layers.
    • Cut three strips 5 1/2″  wide and approximately 1″ tall.
    • Cut two strips 3 3/8″ wide and approximately 1 1/2″ tall.
  • Use white cardstock to cut two sections of the picket fence..

Assemble the Base Pieces

  • Attach the tall cloud layer to the back stair step using double stick tape.
  • Apply double stick tape to the lower back portions of the two grass sections to cover the center and back step section and attach them in place.
  • Use strips of mounting tape on the back of the picket fence sections and attach them to the card base.
  • Attach the front grass sections to the front card base using double stick tape.

It is so much fun to create a dimensional scene like this fall side step card. Click on the picture to see how I made this card.

The Tree and Leaves

  • Cut the tree using Kraft cardstock and apply ink directly to the paper using the brown ink pad.
  • Use white cardstock to cut several sections of the leaves and color them using a mini applicator and green, rust and orange inks.
  • Form the leaves using the leaf tool and molding pad.
  • Attach the leaves to the tree branches using glossy accents.
  • Use a strip of mounting tape on the back of the tree trunk and rolled glue dots on the back of some of the leaves and attach it to the card base.

Color the Wagon, Pumpkins, Garden Tools and Squirrels

  • Use gray cardstock to cut the wagon and garden tools, yellow cardstock to cut the pumpkins and white cardstock to cut the squirrels.
  • Use mini applicators to apply mustard and orange inks to color the pumpkins and brown ink to color the stems.
  • Color the wagon using mini applicators and brown and rust inks.
  • Apply light and dark brown inks with mini applicators to color the squirrels.
  • Color the garden tools with orange ink and a mini applicator.

Finish the Fall Side Step Card

  • Attach layers of the fall leaves on a small scrap piece of cardstock using gloss accents and attach it to the back of the wagon.
  • Apply mounting tape to the wagon full of leaves and attach it to the back step.
  • Tuck the pumpkins in behind the grass layers and attach using pieces of mounting tape.
  • Attach the front rake to the card front with rolled up glue dots.
  • Tuck the second rake in the wagon leaves and attach using glossy accents.
  • Cut green vines from the Leaves and Greenery set and attach them to the fence and in between the grass layers using glossy accents.
  • Apply pieces of mounting tape to the back of the squirrels and attach one to the front grass section and one to the back fence.

It is so much fun to create a dimensional scene like this fall side step card. Click on the picture to see how I made this colorful card.

I really enjoyed pulling out the fall colored inks to create this fall side step card.  It is so rewarding to see all the images come together to create such a colorful and lifelike scene.  The side steps help create dimension and draws the eye from the front tree all the way back to the wheelbarrow full of leaves and the squirrel on the back fence.  If you would like more inspiration check out my step card category.. Thank you for coming by today and I hope you will take your extra time at home to start thinking ahead to making fall and holiday cards.
