My project today was made using Alesa Baker’s Rosie the Love Angel paired with the Love Border, Heart Set, Mini Heart Row and Spiral Flowers.

I thought Rosie would be the perfect image to paper piece and I had lots of fun with the project.  I always have to sit and look at an image a few minutes to figure out how many times I need to stamp the it for paper piecing.  Paper Piecing requires lots of fussy cutting but I think it is worth the effort. I definitely needed to stamp her on watercolor paper so I could paint all the skin and hair portions that show.  I stamped the complete dress once on designer paper, cut it out and attached to the base.  I stamped the top portion and arms a second time, cut it out and layered over top the dress base.  I had to color and cut a second pair of hands to fit in the sleeves.  I used the wings portion of the base image as a template to sketch out the lines on vellum, cut it out, covered it with glossy accents and glitter. I cut the wings off the base and attached the vellum wings with rolled glue dots. I stamped the sash on white cardstock and watercolored lightly with antique linen ink to take away the stark white appearance cut it out and attached to the dress base. I tucked the small die cut heart into the hands and attached with glossy accents.

I used three different sections of the spiral flowers die set to create the layered rose.  I wanted it to be large enough to cover the stamped rose and to create dimension.  Here’s a closer view.

I cut the love sentiment border and then cut the mini heart row and attached to the white card base with mounting tape.  I attached Rosie with mounting tape for one last layer of dimension.  I love how this card turned out.

  1. Kittie the detail on your cards is just stunning. Rosie is beautiful with that rose on her stash, holding a heart. And so beautiful on the red pierced panel. ,
