Impression Obsession 2014 Spring “Die” Hop Day 3

Good Thursday morning. Welcome to Day 3 of the  Design Team Spring Die Hop! I have been sharing the new dies with you over the past couple of weeks but this week our team is going to wow you each day of the hop with their “die” creativity.

My project today was made using the Mason Jar, Fancy Cutout Border, Tiny Flowers and Leafy Branch.

I knew when I saw the new Mason Jar die that I would have to try my hand at creating a floral design with the water and stems showing through the glass.

I started by cutting the jar out of a piece of acetate and coloring in the water with a Copic marker.  The ink looked a little streaky and I almost started over but it was the best I could do so I kept it.  I cut the lid out of gold foil paper, cut an opening in it to put the flower stems through and attached it to the acetate jar with glossy accents. We all know that normally there would be no lid on the jar when arranging flowers but for my purposes I needed to add definition between the jar and the flowers.  So we will just imagine that I removed the canning seal and left the lid on to look pretty.  LOL!

I cut several leafy branch stems, some to use whole and  some cut some apart to create my design. I inserted the stems in the opening of the jar and attached them in place with glossy accents.  After I was finished designing the foliage I attached the tiny flowers all around with glossy accents. I hand cut several long strips of cardstock to fill in the appearance of stems and attached them to the back rim of the jar.

I placed the white card layer on my magnetic platform, put the die in place, cut once and then attached it to the card base with mounting tape.  I thought the fancy border with the pink behind it would be the perfect background for the flower arrangement. I finished by applying glossy accents to the back rim of the jar and the lower flower stems and attached it to the die cut layer.

  2. “So we will just imagine that I removed the canning seal and left the lid on to look pretty.” I keep herbs in canning jars on the counter and always leave the ring on. I love the bunch of flowers.

  10. Good Morning, Kittie, This is a super country kitchen layout. I love the canning jar with the gold lid, that makes it homey. Your bouquet of flowers are beautiful. I must look into the border die, you have done much with its ability. wasn’t sure why the die was only on the side and not a whole sheet. Now I see how to use it. Makes a super accent.
