Impression Obsession Design Team “Fruits and Veggies” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession Design Team challenge. My project today was made using the Basket, Grass Border, Tall Grass, Small Grass Border, Farm Fresh, Honeybee, Carrot, Tasty Tomato 1 and Tasty Tomato 2 .

My parents always had a huge garden each summer when I was growing up and my sisters and I hated pulling weeds. LOL! But with that said there is nothing in the world better than picking a tomato off the vine, wiping the dust off on your shirt and eating it standing in the garden.  My basket of veggies brought this fun memory to me.

I started by stamping the images on white cardstock with black versafine and coloring them with Copic markers.  I didn’t try to add fancy shading on the veggies and foliage because I wanted the colors to be bright and vivid against the all white background. When I was finished coloring I hand cut all the images and set aside. Each honeybee was stamped on white cardstock and again on vellum and embossed with clear embossing powder. I cut the wing section off of the vellum bees and attached over the bee body with glossy accents.  I put rolled glue dots under each vellum wing to hold them up slightly above the base. The sentiment was stamped on the card base with black versafine and embossed with clear embossing powder.

I cut the basket and applied vintage photo ink with a mini applicator.  I arranged the veggies in the basket and attached them to the back side of the basket with glossy accents.  I thought the tall grass pieces looked like spring onions in the basket.  I attached the grasses to the card base with mounting tape and tucked the basket in behind the grass and attached with mounting tape. I attached the bees to the basket handle and card base with rolled glue dots.

Here’s a closer view of the veggies and bees to show the dimension.  I think the bees add so much interest to this veggie scene.

  1. You brought back a similar memory of my grandparents beautiful gardens…one season was vegetables and the off season for vegs was flowers. My grandmother had such a green thumb and my grandfather was willing to do the work necessary to make my grandmother’s garden picture perfect….no weeds, perfectly plowed rows, etc. I also remember gathering the brown eggs each morning…we were in heaven at their house…so different from city living. Those were the days…
TFS your beautiful creation and reminding me of a wonderful childhood.

  4. Sweet memories for sure. I didnt like pulling weeds either but sure loved those fresh tomatoes etc. While one of my fears is being stung by a bee, I do love the bee stamp and how it looks on your card. Beautiful basket.

  5. Kittie, your garden fresh harvest basket is beautiful. Love the bees they look very realistic. Your tomatoes warm off the vine has my mouth watering. Now I am wishing for a toasted beefsteak tomatoe sandwich. Thank you for all the details of this inspiring card. This is my second comment because the first one disappeared after I clicked post, I hope it works this time.
