Impression Obsession Spring Release Blog Hop Day 2

Good Monday morning and welcome to day two of the Impression Obsession Spring Stamp Release Blog Hop! The team will be bringing you wonderful designs for five straight days and there will be gift drawings.  Check out the Impression Obsession blog for all the details.

My project today was made using the new Bark Cover-a-Card stamp paired with the Greetings Top Word Edgers and Forest dies. If you are like me you find it difficult to come up with masculine card ideas. More simple card designs are usually best and the Bark image is the perfect background to add interest and yet let the die cut trees and sentiment be the main focal point.  This was a really fast and easy card to make and to keep on hand when I need a guy card.

I started by using placing the large Cover-a-Card stamp in my brand new MISTI, applied the brown ink and stamped on the card base.  I had heard great things about the MISTI stamping tool so I asked Santa Bob to bring me one.  It is such a great tool to use with the larger stamps allowing a perfect stamped impression the first time.  I don’t know about you but I waste lots of paper trying to get good images with larger stamps. I understand that the MISTI has lots of technique tricks up her sleeve so I will  need to  check out the tutorials on the My Sweet Petunia site to learn more.

I attached the sentiment to the brown layer with ATG adhesive.  I applied several thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the tree trunks and branches and attached to the card base.  I wanted to have another element of dimension and interest on this clean and simple card so I attached the sentiment layer with mounting tape.

  1. Love this card and dittos on guy cards…a real struggle for me. I’ve been watching the MISTI, but haven’t decided whether to make the investment or not. For the time being, if I have a large background stamp to use, I lay the stamp on my counter, ink it really well, place the cardstock onto the stamp and run my brayer over it. Even this method isn’t 100%, but it’s the best I can do. I think I’m talking myself into the MISTI….LOL
Have a great day and thanks for sharing your beautiful card.

  3. I am wondering if it’s that guys don’t react to a handmade card like us gals do. Men definitely have a different perspective on card giving!

  4. Wonderful “guy” card, Kittie! And I have to tell you that my wonderful husband shocked the daylights out of me at Christmas with a MISTI. I never expected to own one! Who knew he was listening when I told him about it so many months before Christmas!! 🙂

  5. Good Afternoon, Kittie, a very different masculine card.Love it. lots of texture. I am so glad you mentioned the Misti tool. I is on my wish list. I think it is awesome for placing images correctly. this site is the most reasonable price I have found anywhere. since it is on back order and won;t be in until March that is better for me as well. Hope so….have a good day.

  8. Your card is so seriously awesome!!! A total dude card if I ever saw one! I don’t have the Bark background stamp, but I have Wood Grain and Wood Texture and I bet they could work too. Worth trying anyway, though I see Bark eventually making its way to my house too. I seem to collect trees and tree textures. I have a whole forest of stamps 🙂

  9. Thanks, Kittie,
I’ve heard of the Misti but haven’t had a chance to see it. May just have to bite the bullet and purchase sight unseen. It sounds like a great tool. And your card is simply super, as always. However, I do really like the simple but very interesting look. I think it is a wonderful masculine card.

  10. A stunning monochromatic card! The bark background is perfect, love those diecut trees in tan, and the bold tan and brown sentiment is just right!
