Good Saturday morning. My card today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Mix-Ability Challenge. The challenge each week is to create a project that uses at least two different types of art media. You can click HERE for a list of supplies you could choose from. This week’s challenge was to create a beach themed project that included a text of some kind. I created a very simple beach scene using the Impression Obsession Hello Summer stamp set , Beach Chairs and Shore Birds. I used Distress Inks, Distress Markers and Embossing Paste to create the scene.
I started by cutting out a mask using a die from the Nesting Card Templates and regular printer paper. I attached the mask to the scene base using Tombow MONO Removable Adhesive. I sponged the brown sandy ground and blue water using mini applicators. The sky area was sponged in using an ink blending tool. I applied the embossing paste to the water with my finger and tapped it around lightly to spread it to appear like sea foam.
I stamped the sentiment in the sky area and sketched in a few little sprigs of sea oats with a Peeled Paint marker. I hand cut around the whole scene using my deckle scissors and attached it to the card base with strips of mounting tape. I added dark shading to the birds with a Hickory Smoke marker and attached them to the scene with rolled up glue dots. The chair was attached with glue dots and thin strips of mounting tape. This was a fairly fast and easy scene to create. The rolling waves look like they could come in and wash my Adirondack chair away but I loved how the embossing paste looked so much like real sea foam.
The Memorial Day weekend always feels like the start of summer to me although it feels like summer here in Florida much earlier. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great holiday.
