Today I am playing with Asian stamped images from Julie’s new Essentials by Ellen So Matcha set. Julie visited Japan last fall and came home inspired and created this pretty set. I had fun creating a scene with the images along with the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside and Impression Obsession Hollyhocks. I hand cut the images so I would have no white borders but there is a So Matcha coordinating die set.
I secured the cardstock and stamps in my MISTI, stamped them using Midnight ink and heat set. I stamped a few images of the girl so I could color, cut them apart and paper piece them. I used the smallest flower image in the set to stamp the kimono using a Morocco marker. I used a Pear Tart marker to fill in the flower centers. I used Pink Flamingo and Egg Shell markers to color the face, hands and feet. The cat was colored using a mini applicator, Vintage Photo and Antique Linen ink. The fan was colored using the Pear Tart marker and the umbrella was colored using the Morocco marker. The individual images were cut out so I could pop them up in the scene. The bamboo was stamped twice on the background and the leaves were colored using the Pear Tart marker.
I wanted the background layer for the scene to match the color of the flowers and umbrella so I colored the border using the Morocco marker. The grass layers were attached to the front scene layer using mounting tape. The girl was tucked in behind the grass layers and attached to the background using mounting tape. The hollyhocks were colored with the markers and attached with glossy accents. The umbrella, fan and cat were attached with mounting tape. I finished by adding a touch of sparkle to the fan using a clear Wink of Stella brush marker.
You can see Julie’s complete release on the “Just In” page over at Ellen’s. Check out the “Konnichiwa Bundle” collection of products that will compliment and work well with the Essentials by Ellen So Matcha set as well as the whole new release.
