Die Cut Watering Can and Flowers

Good Sunday morning.  I have a die cut watering can and flowers card to share with you today made using Rubbernecker Stamps Watering Can, Large Ivy, Flower Buds and Rectangle Combo #2.  I may have gone a little overboard with the ivy covered frame but but I really like the contrast of the all white with the colorful watering can, green ivy and flowers.  I think the tiny sparkling clear sequins adds interest and fills in the blank space.

Check out how I made this die cut watering can and flowers.

The Ivy Frame

  • Cut the rectangle frame using white cardstock.
  • Cut several ivy sections using white cardstock.
  • Trim the ivy sections as needed and attach them to the frame using glossy accents.
  • Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attach it to the white card base.

Coloring the Watering Can

  • Cut the can using gray cardstock.
  • Apply Wild Honey ink to key spots on the can using a mini applicator and blend the color out on the body of the can.
  • Apply Rusty Hinge ink to key spots using a mini applicator to add depth of color and create a distressed appearance.

Check out how I made this ivy framed die cut watering can and flowers.

The Die Cut Watering Can and Flowers

  • Cut several sections of ivy using green cardstock.
  • Attach the ivy sections to the back of the watering can using glossy accents.
  • Trim the ivy as needed to create a balanced arrangement.
  • Cut the flower buds using purple cardstock.
  • Form the flowers using a tiny tipped stylus and molding pad.
  • Punch several 1/4″ circles, apply glossy accents to cover the circle and attach three flowers to each to create the puffy flowers.
  • Attach the flowers to the using glossy accents ivy to finish the arrangement.
  • Attach a double layer of mounting tape to the back of the watering can and a few rolled glue dots to the back of several flowers and attach the can to the card base.

Th Sparkling Clear Sequins

  • Apply tiny drops of glossy accents to the card base.
  • Pick up the tiny sequins with tweezers and attach them to the card base.

Check out how I made this foliage framed die cut watering can and flowers.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my die cut watering can and flowers project.  I probably added way too many sparkling sequins but once I started adding them I just couldn’t seem to stop.  Are sparkling sequins used with a rusty old watering can pushing design a little too far out?  Maybe! Would it have been better with a couple small purple butterflies instead?  Maybe!  The white on white background is definitely in stark contrast with the distressed watering can but I like how it turned out. Thank you for coming by and I hope you have a great Sunday.

  1. Oh Kittie, the white ivy leaves are such a fresh approach combined with the pretty flower basket and blooms. Your inspiration never ends!

  3. Good Afternoon, Kittie; i love your watering can an flowers. can even see it as a table center piece. however the ivy is over powering to me. beautiful ivy but it just over powered the sprinkler can an flowers. It is amazing a beautifully done. Just opinion.
i would love to see that ivy in another scene. perhaps a trellis and more flowers in front of on the trellis. just a thought. I love your work. ……..LOL …..hugs
