A BBQ Card for Labor Day

I’m getting ready for Labor Day weekend with this fun BBQ card.  Rubbernecker has a great collection of scenic dies that can be used to create outdoor cards.  For this card I used the BBQ Set, Tabbed Mountains, Pine Tree Forest, Cooler, Picnic Tables, Grass. Grass #2 and Small Birds.

This BBQ card is loaded with paper pieced details using cardmaking dies

The Outdoor Scene Base

  • Cut an A2 sized white card base and a 4.00″ x 5.25″ piece light blue cardstock.
  • Apply ATG adhesive to the back of the light blue layer and attach it to the card base.
  • Cut one section of the pine tree forest and color the trunks with a brown marker.
  • Cut two grass sections and two mountain sections using green cardstock.
  • Attach the two mountain sections and one grass section to the card base using ATG adhesive.
  • Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the front grass layer and attach it to the card base.
  • Apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the trees, tuck them in behind the last mountain section and attach to the card base.
  • Cut grass sprigs using green cardstock, tuck them in behind the mountain layer and attach using glossy accents.

The BBQ, Cooler, Picnic Table and Birds

  • Cut the BBQ using red and grey cardstock and assemble the pieces and attach using glossy accents.
  • Use gray cardstock to cut the hamburger and hotdogs, color them using mini applicators and brown and rust ink and attach to the grill top using glossy accents.
  • Use aqua, white, light green, yellow and black cardstock to cut the cooler pieces, assemble the pieces and attach together using glossy accents .
  • Cut the picnic table and benches using woodgrain cardstock , the tablecloth using gingham designer paper and attach the cloth to the table using a strip of mounting tape.
  • Use red cardstock to cut the birds and color the beaks using a black marker.

Finish the BBQ Card

  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back of the picnic table and benches and attach them to the front grass section.
  • Use mounting tape to attach the BBQ grill to the card and attach the grill utensils to the grill using glossy accents.
  • Apply glossy accents to the back of the cooler and attach to the front grass section.
  • Finish the card by apply small pieces of mounting tape to the back of the birds and attach them to the scene.
