A Winter White Deer Silhouette Card

Wow – never did I imagine that this white deer silhouette almost all on its own could make such a stunning card! Truly the only additions are his collar, the moon and the snow in the background. To make this card I used the Rubbernecker Winter Deer in Circle, Tiny Leaves and Splatter Background.  This simple card didn’t take long to make and would be perfect to mass produce for your holiday cards.

The Card Base and Snowy Background Layer

  • Cut an A2 sized card base using white cardstock and a 5.50″ x 4.25″ layer using red cardstock.
  • Score the white card base and attach the red layer to the card base using ATG adhesive.
  • Cut a 5.25″ x 4.00″ piece of light blue cardstock.
  • Lightly pat the blue cardstock with the embossing magic bag to remove static.
  • Secure the Splatter Background stamp and the blue cardstock in the MISTI.
  • Apply white pigment ink to the stamp and stamp the image on the blue cardstock.
  • Apply white embossing powder to the blue layer and use a heat gun to set the powder.
  • Attach the blue layer to the red card base using ATG adhesive.

The Winter Deer in Circle

  • Cut a 5.00″ x 3.75″ piece of white cardstock.
  • Place the cardstock on the cutting pad, line up and center the Winter Deer in Circle die and run through the die cutting machine.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape around the back edges of the white layer and pieces of mounting tape on the back of the trees, deer and moon.
  • Line the white layer over the blue layer and attach to the card base.
  • Attach the moon in the sky area.
  • Cut a thin strip of red cardstock, cut to fit and create a collar for the neck of the deer and attach using glossy accents.
  • Use green cardstock to cut tiny green leaves to use to embellish the deer.
  • Form the leaves using a molding pad and leaf tool.
  • Attach the holly leaves and red punched circle to the red collar using glossy accents.
  • Photo tip:  Adding a small touch of red and green on the deer neck makes it pop in the sea of blue and white.  Not only does it draw the eye in but it also helps my camera expose more correctly in auto mode since I’m basically a point and shoot photographer.
