Easter Chick Cards To Make Slimline Style!

Easter chick cards to make and send that will “crack” them up!

When I saw this set, I immediately thought of a slimline card to fit them all and knew that these Easter chick cards to make and send this year would bring a welcome chuckle to my friends. For this card I used the Rubbernecker new Chicks and Eggs Clear Set, Slimline OPC Scallop, Slimline Grass, Grass #2, Flower Stems, Flower Buds and Small Butterflies.  Rubbernecker has also created a Chicks and Eggs Die that coordinates with the stamp set but I didn’t use it for this project. I linked it below in case you want to check it out.

This idea for easter chick cards to makeand send this year uses a slimline base for extra space for all those little cuties from Rubbernecker!

Slimline Frame and Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut the 8.50″ x 7.00″ card base and a 7.75″ x 2.75″ scene base.
  • Place the card base on the Scor-Pal and score down the center at 3.50″ and fold.
  • Cut the slimline frame using white cardstock.
  • Use green cardstock to cut the slimline grass section and attach it to the back of the slimline frames using double stick tape.
  • Apply strips of mounting tape to the back outer edges of the slimline frame and the two center frame sections.
  • Apply blue ink to the scene layer using a large blender brush and blue ink.
  • Attach the blue scene layer to the back of the slimline frame.
  • Apply strips of double stick tape to the back of the frame and scene layer and attach it to the card base.

The Chicks

  • Stamp the chicks on white cardstock using Nocturne ink and heat set with heat gun.
  • Color the chicks using light orange ink and a mini applicator.
  • Apply shading to the chicks using a darker shade of orange and mini applicator.
  • Use an orange marker to color the beaks.
  • Fussy Cut the chicks out and tuck them in behind the grass and attach using pieces of mounting tape.

The Flowers, Stems, Grass Sprigs and Butterflies

  • Cut the flower buds and butterflies using pink, purple and yellow cardstock.
  • Use green cardstock the stems and grass sprigs.
  • Form the flowers using a tiny tipped stylus and molding pad.
  • Attach the flowers to the stems using glossy accents.
  • Tuck the stems and grass sprigs in behind the grass and around the chicks and attach using glossy accent.
  • Use glossy accents to attach the three small butterflies.
  • Finish by attaching tiny white circles in the flower centers and on the butterflies and attach using glossy accents.  Note:  Whenever I cut a a die with eyelet holes I save the tiny circles in a jar to use for flower centers, snowflakes or to adorn a butterfly.

This slimline design for easter chick cards to make this year takes full advantage of all the little characters in this new set from Rubbernecker

If Easter chick cards to make have been on your list, I highly recommend making one of these because it’s so much fun to work with their little personalities and create something fun and sweet and perfect for Easter OR just for spring!
