A Pretty Handmade Garden Card in Pinks

This charming handmade garden card in pinks is such a pretty scene and can be used for any occasion.

I love this Gate and Arbor die from Rubbernecker – the details are so precious and it is perfectly sized to be the main feature on a card. I combined it with one of the luscious patterns from their Welcome Spring 6×6 Paper Pad and created this pretty handmade garden card in pinks pulled from the paper. I added those details with their Grass, Flower Stems, Tiny Flowers #2, and Small Butterflies and was thrilled to use up lots of little scraps of card stock to make them.

A pretty handmade garden card in pinks made with paper and dies from Rubbernecker to add all the realistic details.

Let me share the details of the making with you so you can try out the elements on your own cards.

Garden Card Base

  • Use white cardstock to cut an A2 sized card base.
  • Cut a 5.50″ x 4.25″ piece of the Welcome Spring paper.
  • Attach the designer paper to the card base using double stick tape.  Pro Tip:  I cut about a 1/16th of an inch off the side and the bottom of the card base to make it easier to line up and attach the designer paper.   I hate to admit it but i am the worst at attaching things crooked. 😆 This little trick really helps me.

Realistic details made with die cute make this handmade garden card in pinks with a pretty white picket fence and arbor an ideal all occasion card.

Garden Gate and Arbor

  • Cut the Gate and Arbor sections using white cardstock and the hinges and gate handle using scraps of black cardstock.
  • Attach one fence section to the arbor using glossy accents.
  • Apply glossy accents to the hinges and handle and attach them to the gate.
  • Attach the outer fence sections to the arbor using glossy accents.  Pro Tip:  I laid the gate and fence sections on the card base to get my measurement for cutting off the sides of the fence.
  • Apply thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the arbor, the back of the upper fence cross bar sections and double stick tape to the back bottom of the fence and arbor and attach the whole section to the card base.

Grass, Flowers and Butterflies

  • Cut the Grass and Flower Stems using scraps of dark green cardstock.
  • Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the grass and attach it to the fence and card base.
  • Use pink cardstock sraps to cut the Tiny Flowers #2 and Small Butterflies.
  • Place the tiny flowers face up on the molding pad and form them using a small tipped stylus.
  • Attach the flower stems and flowers to the top of the arbor to create a floral wreath.
  • Attach tiny flowers to several flower stem sections using glossy accents.
  • Tuck the flower stems in behind the grass and attach using glossy accents.
  • Finish the card by attaching the butterflies to the scene using touches of glossy accents.  I applied tiny crystal clear gems to the butterflies for a touch of sparkle.

With a beautiful floral patterned background and exquisite die cut details, this handmade garden card in pinks has a realistic look and is the perfect all occasion card.

The Gate and Arbor die is an incredibly flexible design with the gate sections and the arbor separate from each other so you can use the pieces any way you like. If you love making garden cards or other cards with an outdoor theme, you should consider adding this to your lineup because you will use it more than you think!
