Impression Obsession Design Team “Out of the Box” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession Design Team challenge. My project today was made using the Solid Tree Set and Small Bird Set

What does “out of the box” mean to you?  This was a fun discussion the team had in our Yahoo group this past weekend.  I finally decided that for me it was to create a project that is out of my wheelhouse.  I have strayed very far from my paper crafting beginnings. Back then it was all about stamped images, water coloring and scenes.  The only constant over the years is my love for creating scenes. The introduction of dies caught my interest and took over my stamping style.  So for my project today I turned back to my beginnings using stamped images to create a scene but stepped way out of my norm and used silhouette images in black on a cream background instead of lots of color.  Please note…..I couldn’t resist adding a few die cut birds.  LOL!

I stamped the images and sentiment with black versafine and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I applied black ink on a small piece of black cardstock, embossed with clear powder and used it cut out the birds.

I attached the scene to a black layer of cardstock and popped it up on the card base with mounting tape.  I attached the birds to the scene and sentiment with glossy accents for the finishing touch.

  2. This is certainly “out of the box” for you Kittie! It must have been a struggle to design without color, but you did it girl! You’ve created a stunning silhouette card.

  3. Love it…I am a big fan of silhouettes…like how you off centered the sentiment. I have almost forgotten how to use my stamps…not a good thing…but do love the dies.

  6. This is very thought provoking to me. I just finished reading a blog about the old movie, by Hitchcock, “Rebecca”. The photos were all black and white. I LOVE black and white normally but, this card gave me a feeling of a dark place filled with heaviness…maybe, I am having a bad day, lol. TFS.
