Leftovers

The Limited Supply challenge on Splitcoaststampers today was to use leftovers and scraps. I pulled out small pieces of designer paper, a chipboard void for my frame, and a wagon wheel, two horse shoes and some twine that I had left over from making a cowboy card a couple of weeks ago.  I also keep a scrap box of watercolor paper and I used three pieces big enough to stamp the horse head on. I used Winny, the horse image illustrated for Whipper Snapper by Anna Wight (SweetMissDaisy).  I just got Winny along with a few other images of Anna’s for free due to my winning second place and $50 in the Whipper Snapper Winter Contest.  You ought to check out their Spring Contest as you never know who will win. Oh, and I stamped the sentiment as well. The sentiment and other western images are from Rubbernecker’s Cowboy images.

I wanted to use Winny and also the chipboard frame.  I thought Winny could have a sister, Minnie and a brother, Benny sharing the stalls with her.  I stamped the horses, watercolored them with Adirondack inks and cut them out.  I used chocolate chip and caramel craft ink to coat the chipboard frame and heat dried it. The horse shoes were originally stamped in brown but I sponged them with versa to emboss them with gold embossing powder.  I used a copic marker to age the gold embossing as the alcohol ink distressed it.  I used brads to hang them on the frame.  I attached the horses to the main layer and then attached the frame over them.  I attached the rope and wagon wheel for additional embellishment.  The sentiment was stamped with chocolate chip craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.  What a fun card this was and it made me feel good to use mostly items that were left over from other projects.

  1. Kittie, your talent never ceases to amaze me. Even when you “take out the trash” and use scraps, it turns out beautiful! Another wonderful job!
