Fun With Squares

SweetMissDaisy (Anna Wight) has posted a sketch challenge on her blog, Sassy & Sweet Notes and I couldn’t resist trying my hand at a card.  This is a simple little card made with a new Stampin" Up! set called Pun Fun. I wanted this little hippo to be jazzed up with the paper piecing technique.  I stamped her twice with Black Brilliance on the coordinating paper used for the squares and embossed with clear embossing powder. I stamped the image on watercolor paper as well to create the little scene around and once on rose red cardstock to get the little balloon and bow.  I created a little frame around the watercolor paper with post-its to mask off a border around the edge. I sponged the green ground and the blue sky and then added texture with my mini fern stamp. I pieced the layers together and then added diamond glaze on the bow and balloon.  The base of the card is self explanatory.  What a fun layout to play with.
