The Color Challenge for today on SCS was to use, Basic Gray, Black and Pomegranate. I had to give this combination some thought as there really wasn’t much that came to mind for me. I pulled out my Rubbernecker Cat Collection and found the perfect images. A cat, a ball of yarn and the wonderfully true cat motto sentiment. I stamped the cat image twice on scrap paper with Brilliance Black Graphite and and the ball of yarn once. I colored the cats with Ranger Distress Black Soot reinker. I love Distress reinkers to paint with. They are so smooth. Anyway…I painted the ball of yarn with Pomegranate and cut it out as well. I took a long piece of string and ran it across the Pomegranate ink pad several times until it was mostly colored and to appear like the yarn. I painted a wide gray patch on a piece of white cardstock for a simple base for the bad cat. I attached the first cat to the base of the card. I placed several balled up glue dots to the back of the second cat, wrapped him with the string and attached him over the first base cat. I thought this would add dimension to a very plain and stark card. (plain and stark for me…there is nothing green here) I took my ball of yarn and used the larger round end of a stylus on the back side to create a ball shape so I could attach it over the string. I decided on a very simple layout and only used my sandwich baggy full of dried rice pounced directly on the ink pad and then cardstock to create a textured background on all the layers. What a fun little card to make and a truer statement was never made. I have two cats and a dog and my poor dog usually has no clue what has happened to her.
