I’ve gone beach crazy as this is my third beach card made in the last two days. But I have a good excuse as the Inspiration Challenge on SCS today has a bracelet filled with seaside charms.
I just got a complete set of Rubbernecker Beach Party images this week. One of the most fun thing about the collection is that there are so many wonderful small pieces to work with. When I saw the inspiration bracelet I instantly thought of all those tiny pieces that add so much to scenes. My card has thirteen different images on it and almost all of them were cut out to pop up for dimension. Talk about tired cutting fingers.
I stamped all of the images with black brilliance, colored with Copic markers and cut out. I used Diamond glaze on the inner tube to make it look like rubber. I added diamond glaze to the glass of lemonade, starfish and shells and sprinkled glitter lightly on for a bit of sparkle. I cut the towel in half to make it fit more appropriately in the scene. I got all the pieces together and ready to create my scene and then moved on to the background. I used Adirondack Aqua to create the sky and then added some Adirondack Lemonade for the sunny reflection in the clouds. I masked off the white cardstock with post it notes and sponged with Adirondack Pool to create a calm sea. I then used a jumbo dauber to sponge Adirondack Latte for the sand area/ I cut two additional pieces of white cardstock and sponge to create sand layers. I used the sand dune image from the collection to create sandy texture and I used it to create the background on the red and teal layers. You are going to love that stamp. There are two different sizes of it. I started layering all the pieces onto the card, popping things up with mounting tape and glue dots rolled up. Everything came together well and created a fun…yes…and very busy scene. I love the bright colors. PS…..should we tell that lady in the scene that bottoms don’t always look their best from the back in stripes????????????????

This new set is fabulous! And as usual you are fabulous! It makes me want to pack up and go to the beach. Wish it was just a little warmer.
As for the cramped hand from cutting. If you will email me your address I will send you one of my new Fiskar Craft Knives. I use to get horrible hand cramps from cutting out my “pieces” Then I got this knife and a new world! I love it. I keep extras to RAK out! Seriously email me and I will send you one I bet you will love it too!

Hi Kittie! As always your little beach scene is phenomenal! I think it is too funny that you are asking about the bathing suit colors/prints vs. solid. I have all print. Two really pretty bold bright pink all over floral and bright yellow with other bold, bright colored flowers. (Okay so they are both old and very bold!) The last is black with a subtle charcoal floral pattern quite subdued compared to the other. I was just thinking the other day that I soooo need to go have some new ones made. Unfortunately I am tall and can’t wear off the rack, so I only replace once in a blue moon, but I think the blue moon is rising!
SUPER card, Kittie!
And I LOVE that bracelet! I WANT IT!!
I just tried my first scene card this week. I love the look and didn’t know whether I could do it or not. Looking at samples that you and others put out there for us to see encouraged me to try. It’s not quite finished…needs something else and I have not figured out what to use yet. I put it aside for now as I needed to get my taxes done (hoping for some cash to buy more stamps, but ended up with taxes due ๐ instead. You will never find me wearing a striped swimsuit…it would make me look too wide! I have a black print with waist shirring, but I need to invest in a new one this year. Thanks so much for sharing your work with us!!!
Kittie, I love this scene, but that’s just way too much cutting for my fingers. Now, watch I say that, and I’ll go and do the same thing. ๐
Awesome scene, you are so good at these types, just love the depth the sand and goodies make to this card!
Your cards are all wonderful. It’s my first time visiting your blog…you put a lot of heart into your cards, I love how they’re individual little scenes. Joan
