Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge RBC19 and Dare to get Dirty Challenge combined

There is big doin’s going on over at Splitcoaststampers this week.  All Fan Club members are invited to play along for special challenges posted by the Dirty Dozen/Dirty Dozen Alumni members. I love playing in these challenges.  I decided to combine my RBC19 challenge to create a scene with Laurie’s challenge to use vellum and Jody’s challenge to use ribbon. I love creating scenes and thought I would put a different spin on my scene for this project. I used versa to stamp all of my images on vellum and then embossed with gold ep. Wow!  I loved the effect. I didn’t, however, love the pure white and gold for the scene. Hmmmm…..I wonder if you can distress vellum? I thought I would try.  The edges of vellum paper is very brittle and does not tear up like regular cardstock.  It sort of breaks off and creates jagged lines. I used a distressing tool as well as my deckle scissors to distress as much as I could and then sponged on Old Paper and Vintage Photo distress ink to give the paper an aged look.  I distressed the edges of a piece of white cardstock and sponged Old Paper on to create a layer for the vellum leaving the center of the paper white so the scene would show better.  I used a spiral punch down the left side of the vellum to create a look of old note paper and attached gold organdy ribbon and heated to age and distress.  What a fun project.  Check out the other Rubbernecker DT member’s posts for some other fun samples.  Jeanne, Tami, Leigh, Candy, Linda, Sherry and Shelly

  1. Wow Kittie, this card is soooo cool! I keep forgetting how impressive the metalic embossing powders look. Thanks for the reminder!

  2. Gorgeous Kittie. Will have to try that when my sets get here. Dave shipped them same day as my order and snail mail is living up to it’s name; and I just live down the state from RN. Geez. *rolls eyes*

  3. That card is beautiful. I like cards that are simple yet elegant with not a lot going on. It drains the main image.

  5. Hi Kittie…. what an amazing card…. I’ve never tried stamping and embossing on vellum My favourite card style at the moment is emobossed cuttlebug background with a funky image on top, which has been coloured in…. not sure what style that is but I like it……

I’d have to say that my favorite card style would be colored images. (I love to color, so I’m always impressed by other people’s coloring talent *wink*).
