Half-baked Snowy Window

KC Window Dressing 3

The SCS Ways to Use It Challenge this week was to use half or a portion of an image on our project. That is where the half-baked part comes in. There are lots of fun samples in the challenge gallery.

I love the fun window in the Stampin' Up hostess set-Window Dressing. There are so many adorable images to use. I chose to use the two snowmen in a scene allowing only about 3/4 of the image to show. I added 1/2 of a tree from my Kittie Kits -The Moose is Loose on the other side of the scene. I love the appearance of not having the images centered in the scene as it is so realistic from a window view.

I stamped the window on watercolor paper, and the scene images on another.  I painted the images and created the snowy scene in the background.  I cut the window out with my craft knife and cut the whole image with my snips so I could pop it up on the card front. I addedthe scalloped snowflake layer under the image and made a tiny snowflake tag to attach with gingham.  oo bad you cannot see the embossed snowflake well in the photo.  I love how this project turned out with the ballet blue popping in contrast to the bright red and the crisp white. Hint: Using my SU Color Coach always helps me choose colors that work well together for projects that seem to pop off the screen.

  1. Kittie, this is just too adorable. Fortunately, when I look out my window here in Nebraska, that scene is not in my view, but glad it’s on your card instead 😉
