The Wednesday Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers provided a perfect layout for me to use two darling images from the new set called Hay Hanna from Hanna Stamps. The main layer images were just the perfect size to create little matching pasture scenes. Wait….do piglettes get to run free in the pasture?
I stamped the images with Black Brilliance and then watercolored them with reinkers and a brush. I added field scenery around them and sketched in the little fences and trees with my artist pen. I created the tree tops just by using the brush to dab on two different colors of ink and then touched a little bit of real watercolor paint for depth. These were quick and simple little scenes to crate but I love how they match and fit together on the card. I love the Soft Sky paper and the retired Stampin" Up Designer Paper together and thought they were a calming backdrop for the scenes.
I want to encourage you to get a waterproof artist pen to use to add little bits of images to your projects. If you look closely you will see that the fences and trees are nothing more than simple lines. I use Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens-Superfine and Extra Superfine. You can find these at Michael's and Jo-Ann's but Iurchase mine from Dick Blick as they are so much cheaper than I have found anywhere and I
don't have to go get them.
Since my post my post today features two baby animals I thought I would show you the two recent additions to our home. Sadly, we had to let our fourteen year old poodle, Bailey go to sleep at the first of December. She was my baby and followed me everywhere I went. She was sweet and even enjoyed our two cats, Cassie and Chloe. Bob new that I was heartbroken over loosing Bailey and he wanted to fill my "mommy needs" with a new baby. We had already decided we would not have another dog until we retired and could be home to spend time with it. I know how hard and unfair it is to try and train a brand new puppy when you are away from the house all day working. Bob came home with two adorable rescue kittens, three months old brother and sister. It is really hard to be sad when you have a kitten rodeo going on all the time.
Meet Sophie (all black) and Toby
They are resting after trying to help me pick out a few marker colors to work with.
The babies love my blue flannel robe and so does my fluffy Siamese, Chloe. We were all reclining together watching TV and my husband looked over and asked "what am I, chopped liver?". They all love to lay on "me".
Sophie and Toby lounging in the rocker.
Sophie likes to lay on my lap as long as I'm sitting down painting, watching TV or whatever. She climbed right up my back from my chair when I stood up to get something for my stamping project. I hope she gets over this before she gets to be ten pounds or so.
It's a tough life! Sleeping in their little cat post hotel.
This is Cassie (white and black) weighing in at seventeen pounds, the oldest and biggest in the house along with Chloe. Note that Toby the kitten could be Cassie's baby.
Adorable!!! I just LOVE cats! Sophie looks exactly like my cat Smokey 🙂
Good for you rescueing those little guys. We just rescued two ourselves. Now there are three and it has been a zoo around here. I can only imagine what your household is like. I too am the “cuddle machine” in our home. Have fun with your new friends.
I love your sweet baby animal card!! Especially that dirty little pig! And I adore seeing photos of your new babies! Looks like they fit in perfectly! Ha! Now I’m not the only “cat lady”!
Kittie your card is so adorable, fantastic work! Your kittie’s are priceless! I love animals, Baxter, my Dachshund, now 16 months is my shadow and follows me everywhere. And yes, he even sleeps with me at night, keeps my feet warm . . . LOL. My kittie, Scooter, is a mutt cat that I adopted when she was 8 weeks old. She’ll be 12 soon and weighs in at 22 lbs. She’s bigger than Baxter and most people think she’s a raccoon when they see her from afar as she’s a long haired cat. Isn’t it amazing how much joy our “babies” bring us.
Kittie: I love your posts! (your artwork and comments!) I had to write, since I did a very similar thing when we lost our 13 y.o. Dalmatian. I rescued 2 cats (sisters) very soon after our dog died. I never owned cats before – 3 years later, they are a very important part of our family. I enjoyed hearing about them!
Hi Kittie, Your post made me cry as we have a almost 14 year old cocka-poo and she has her good and bad days. We love her so much and I can imagine your heart was aching.
I love your new additions, and I did have to take a second look at Sophie laying there cause I was gonna email you and say “hey you are feeding the kitten too much!” ha! Ellen Degeneres says black and white cats are the smartest over all…what do you think?
Adorable card, such cute scenes you have made. Thanks for the info on the pen. Sorry to hear about your loss. Your new memebers of the family are too cute!
oh Kittie, I’m sorry to hear about Bailey. I know how hard it is to lose a faithful companion. I also know how much having a pet adds to your life, so I’m glad you have new friends to fill your days. My little cat likes to lay across my shoulders when I’m working too. I don’t think this little guy is going to out grow this; he looks too comfy there!
{{HUGS}} for the loss of Bailey. I’m a crafter and animal lover and know how those furry paws tug at our hearts. My DH and I have seven cats, we call the ‘da herd. They were all rescues and they prefer piling onto me as well! Swap out your recliner photo with my face and we’d be twins! Our ‘babies’ are Siamese (Lily looks it and Dahlia sounds it). Dahlia is all black, with a few white tummy spots, similar to your Sophie.
I just wanted to let you know there’s another ‘crazy crafting cat lady’ in the world. I also love that all your babies have ‘human’ names. So do mine! I don’t have my craft blog up yet (it’s my 2009 resolution) but you can hop over to cathyspicer.blogspot.com to see my heard if you’d like).
Thanks for sharing your talents with us in the blogging world!

Hi Kittie,
I’m sorry to hear about Baily…looks like you have a full house now.
I love this card – I saw it on Splitcoast last night. Your background watercoloring is as fabulous as your stamped images. I can see your own style developing as you’ve been “hanging out with Bob.” :o)
WOW! I sure am going to visit youre blog again! You make very nice scrapbooking things and I really liked the “wine lamp” Really cute! /Hugs from Clinen in Sweden
what beautiful baby’s, I am so sorry to hear about Baily. Your cards are always beautiful and such an inspiration.
Oh, I’m so sorry about your dog that you had to let go…I understand how hard that is. I do love your new kitties, though! And the ones you already had! They are all precious. I have 7 cats, and each one is special! I could NEVER live happily without cats in my life…that’s just the truth! Pets are wonderful. I have some “Grand-pets” too, that my boys own! I love them, as well! =)
love the cards and very sorry about your dog I also had to put mine down so know how you feel but congrats on all your new fur babies
Hugs
Norine
great card and sophie and toby are adorable
Oh Kittie!
I’m so sorry to hear about Bailey! I completely understand from the heart.
Your animals card is just precious! I’m not quite sure how you made the fence & trees with pens, but one of these days, perhaps I’ll convince you to ‘show’ me!
Your kittys! OMGosh! I can hear them purrring! How adorable that they’re all finding favorite places all across you! They know who loves the purr-babies!
~Bev
So sorry about Baily! I am so glad you got rescue cats, we have 6 cats, all were drop offs or products of….3 are outside, 3 live inside, but the outside are very spoiled, my hubby builds them a fire in the garage wood burner every night, and he has recliners in his “man room” in the garage, they have a doggie door cut to their size and they have it made! I also have Chloe cat!
Thanks for such a gerat post, Kittie! Love your farm animals card!
Also love seeing your animals! I’;m so sorry about your loss. We also lost our dog (in July) and got two kittens in the fall to help with the loss.
Thanks for showing us your kids!
I love your great artwork and your blog. Thanks so much for sharing your babies pictures and stories. They are pretty lucky to “own your family”. As a “furry mama” myself I know how much richness they add to a person’s life. Bless you all.

ohhhhh…. you make me want a tiny kitten. But my 9lb Tuxedo (who thinks he he a LION) would not be pleased. ohhhhh… but a kitten. Enjoy!
Loved lurking around your blog – lovely cards!
(((Hugs))) Kittie on you loss of Bailey. That had to have been really hard. Tell your DH thanks for bringing the kittens home for you though. Your cards are just beautiful as always too.
BTW, the carry me around on the shoulder will be there a while. I have 5 cats (ages 6mos – 14yrs), and 4 still “fight” with each other to be on mommy’s shoulder daily. 🙂 They’re too funny.
These are adorable!!!!!
