The Ways to Use It challenge on SCS Thursday was to use foil on our project. Ugh! I guess there are several types of foil out there to be used with crafting but I have no idea what they are as I just never ventured in that direction. My only choice, if I wanted to play in the challenge, was to use tin foil. Doh! How do I use tin foil on a card front? I always turn to my “little truck” when I am clueless on what to do for a challenge that seems to be totally out of my comfort zone. This time was no exception. I was really in the mood for a scene as I have been creating simple cards the last couple of days with new backgrounds that I have. I decided that I could use foil on the bumper, headlights and hubcaps of the truck, although you can barely see it on the photo, and put the truck into a springy Easter Egg scene. Now I was right back into my comfort zone, foil and all.
I stamped truck on foil and again on watercolor paper. I colored the image stamped on paper and cut it out with my snips and craft knife for the window. I cut out the tiny pieces of foil and attached to the truck with Mod Podge. I love that stuff for attaching tiny pieces and paper piecing. I created the little scenery background on watercolor paper. I used Color Box stylus and foam tips to add the lines of green, brown and blue sky. If you use sponging techniques for your projects then you will want to check out this wonderful tool. I used my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master to add the grass and scenery images. I painted in the little eggs by hand and then outlined them a tiny bit with my artist pen. I used a rigger brush to add a few tall stems around the flowering clumps to create extra softness to the scene. Nothing calms me after a stressful day of work like sitting and creating a scene of some kind. This was no exception.

What an adorable card! Love the scene you’ve created!
Kitty, I found that using the tin foil as a mat, but before placing it down on your card front, emboss it using the Cuttlebug if you have one (or Big Shot) and it does an incredible job. Clever idea though using the foil for the hub caps, bumper and headlights.
I don’t use this little truck as much as you do, but I don’t think I will ever get rid of it, just because of the scenes that you make with it!!
Kittie, no one can make a darling card with this set like you can! I only wish I had 1% of your talent! ;0)
This is an absolutely ingenious use for tin foil! I LOVE it, Kittie! I don’t own the little pick-up truck but have been wanting it for several years now. Thank you for linking us over to your Kittie Kits (which I’m horribly ashamed to say I’d never known). I’m thrilled to know you have stamp sets of your own since I greatly admire your work! Now where’s my creidt card?
Super cute Kittie, love all your little hidden eggs!!
