Wacky Wednesday #6 and Rubbernecker Release Preview

Wacky Wednesday Button girls Linda is hosting the Rubbernecker Wacky Wednesday challenge this week. She has challenged us to use pink and lilac (or purple) on our project.  Check out the RN Blog and see how one lucky person can win a 40% off coupon to use on your next Rubbernecker purchase.

If you followed my blog posts last week during the Rubbernecker design team gathering in Texas, you know that we got a pile of new rubber. Yeah!!!!!!!!!  New Rubbernecker sets and lots of them. What you will see today on the blogs of the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas, are previews of the first new sets (excluding Kittie Kits) that Rubbernecker has released in 10 years.  Tomorrow is the release and the sets will be up on the site available for sale.  Also during the release tomorrow, our team is going to have a Blog Stroll (we’re all too old to hop). Six of the Design Team will be giving away the set that they preview.  There will be one winner from each of the six blogs and then, if you follow the clues you have a chance to win the GRAND PRIZE (all six sets).  You’ll need to start at the RN Blog tomorrow and follow the clues along the way.  You’ll be happy you did!

I have combined my challenge projects with a preview of one of Rubbernecker’s new stamp sets. Easter Inchies is a set of 24 adorable images that can not only be used for Easter but for all occasions as well.

In my first project I combined several different chicks, a hatching egg chick and flower images to create a precious little Easter Scene. I started by creating masks for all four chick images. I put a piece of tape across the very bottom of the egg image, inked the image, removed the tape and stamped it on watercolor paper. Blocking the ink on the bottom of the egg allowed me to apply grass and make the egg bottom look like it was totally hidden in the grass. I stamped and masked each additional image the until I had created my little row of chicks. While the chicks were all still masked I stamped the flower images to create a garden and to appear behind the chicks. I also stamped off several more flower images on scrap watercolor paper to color and cut out. I watercolored all the images with a brush and reinkers and sponged in the sky and grassy area. I used my Kittie Kits Outdoor Master grass sprigs image to fill in the ground area around the chicks. I popped up several of the flower images to create dimension and then lightly applied Diamond Glaze and sprinkled a fine dusting of Iridescent Ice glitter over them to make them sparkle. I created the frame for the image with Nestabilities dies. I used the Stampin’ Up! scalloped border to create the border on the main card base and then  paper pierced around the borders using a large upholstery needle. I find those to make a more delicate hole than my paper piercing tool. I used the sentiment on the Hopping Chick from the Rubbernecker Easter Collection by coloring with a lilac marker. The perfect finishing touch to this adorable card was the sweet pink satin ribbon from May Arts. You will soon be able to find this delicious ribbon for sale at Rubbernecker.

I adore this little lamb stamp in my second project and couldn’t resist creating a flock with one little black sheep standing out in the crowd. I created several lamb masks so I could stamp it many times to create the flock. I followed the same coloring technique as in my first project to create the grassy scene and added a tree in the pasture for interest. The little black sheep was cut out and popped up to make her “stand out” a little more in the crowd. My sentiment was computer generated.

Now as if a new release isn't enough to stir some excitement, Rubbernecker Dave is also having a special sale.

  5. Ok….I need to get my “out of the box” hat on….All I could focus on was the colors and panicking that I had nothing that would work for this challenge. You just proved me wrong with your little scenes (which are adorable as usual!)
