Wacky Wednesday #13 and New Sets Preview

Wacky Wednesday Button girls It’s hard to believe how fast the weeks are rolling by.  It seems like Wednesday comes around faster each week and especially after a three day weekend. I hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day holiday.

I am the host for today’s Wacky Wednesday challenge. I thought it would be fun to use frames on our projects. You can create a frame with your Nestabilities, use a frame stamp or you could use a round, oval or square mask to sponge ink on your cardstock. You can find all the details about participating in the challenge and how to win a 40% Discount on your next Rubbernecker order at the Rubbernecker Blog.

Rubbernecker is releasing five new sets tomorrowClapping so there’s going to be a another blog stroll. Walking 2 My  project today is made using the new Tree Inchies set and you will want to check out all the Red Hot Mommas blog posts to see previews of the other new sets.

KC Tree Inchies

I love paper piecing and challenged myself to create a whole scene using nothing but images stamped on designer paper. I stamped all the images with craft ink, embossed them with clear embossing powder and cut them out using snips and a craft knife. I cut four different ground layers and brown path freehand with deckle scissors and attached them to the white base. I made sure I only placed adhesive on the bottom portion of the ground layers so the tops would be loose and free to tuck the images in behind.  I attached the barn image first and then the trees.  Some of the tree tops were popped up for dimension. I attached the little brown path and fence sections to complete the little scene.  I created my frame with Nestabilities oval dies using red and white cardstock.  I thought the double layer attached with mounting tape created the perfect contrast for the scene and made it seem to pop.

Hint: I find Mod Podge the easiest adhesive to use when paper piecing and working with tiny pieces. I like to use rolled up glue dots instead of foam dimensionals when I need just a touch of space behind a popped up image.

Color Challenge Fun

KC What's for Lunch

I had fun with the SCS color challenge last night. We were to use Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie and So Saffron. I had this left over piece of striped designer paper that had the perfect colors for this challenge. I thought it looked nautical and would work well with a beach scene. I am really in the mood for the beach since it is only a few weeks until I go to Cape Hatteras with my family for a week . I stamped the images, masked and then sponged on the sand area. I masked a straight line and sponged on blue to create the water. I punched a circle out to mask off the area for the sun and sponged in the saffron, removed the mask and sponged on the sky area. I used the sand dune and sea oats images from the Beach Master to add interest to the ground area. I used a white Sharpie marker to create the sea foam on the water’s edge. I would like to be the one walking down the beach.

  5. I swear, Miss Kittie, there is no one who can create a scene like you!! I’m always just transported to a different world (right now, being in either one of these cards would be wonderful…no young boys fighting over who should be getting in the shower first or arguing whose fault it is that mom is yelling….sigh….)
