Saturday Fun Inspiration

I enjoy the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge.  It is always interesting to find a special piece that I find inspiring. The inspiration site this week was Bellacor Vases and here is the image that inspired my project.

I love the seashells on this vase and I was inspired to create a beach scene with my new Crafty Secrets Seaside set. The little girl in her sailor dress/suit is so precious playing in the sand with her bucket and shovel.

I stamped the little girl image twice, once on my main image paper and again on scrap paper.  I painted in the sky, water and beach, heat drying each area before moving to the next. I painted the edges all around the little girl on the main image and then moved on to paint the second image fully and cut out to pop up.  I attached the hat flat to the surface but popped up the little girlโ€™s bottom with rolled up glue dots.  I believe it adds to the dimension and looks like she is really squatting and leaning forward.  I had trouble coming up with a good basic card layer but finally decided to stamp random shells from the set on the frame as well as the main layer and scalloped border. I sponged Adirondack Sandal ink on white SU taffeta ribbon to age to match the vanilla paper and vintage feel of the card.

Stamps:  Crafty Secrets Seaside       Ink:  Blue Bayou, Baja Blue, Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, Adirondack Sandal, Cranberry, Lemonade, Vintage Photo,     Paper:  Baja Blue, Blue Bayou, Watercolor, Vanilla      Accessories:  Taffeta, Nestabilities, Mounting Tape, Glue Dots, Brushes
