Weekend Holiday Stamping

I spent all my weekend stamping time creating Christmas cards.  What fun it is for me to figure new ways to make snow or to paint a vintage scene. I would like to share the three very different cards that I made.

KC The Moose is Loose 11

I wanted to create a simple nature type winter scene so I pulled out my Kittie Kits with the cabin and three different size trees.  I stamped the cabin with black craft in on watercolor paper and heat dried.  I masked the cabin and stamped the trees all around it using darker green ink. I stamped a few tree tops using a lighter shade of green to make the trees appear to be in the distance and then painted the cabin.  I heat set all the ink and then sponged  pale yellow along the tree tops and then lightened the shade as I moved upward in the sky. I heat set again. I used a small brush to paint white craft ink on the roof top and around the windows and then used a larger brush to paint all around the ground area and then heat embossed with white embossing powder. I put a fine layer of glue on the roof and ground area and applied white Flower Soft to create a soft natural looking snow. I finished the card with simple designer paper, crimped crisp white paper along with brown gingham.

KC Sarah Kay Noel Eve

I love all the Stampavie Sarah Kay Noel 2009 collection and I think each image is my favorite as I use it in a project.  They are all so full of detail and bring back memories of old-fashioned holidays.  I stamped the image on watercolor paper and again on scrap watercolor with black craft ink and heat set.  I painted all the images using reinkers and then began cutting out the skillet, coal bucket, teapot and dress to pop up over the scene.  I embossed all the pieces and scene with clear embossing powder while the ink was still wet to create the appearance of a tile. I popped up the images with glue dots and then layered over Graphic 45 designer paper.  I ran white taffeta ribbon over an Antique Linen ink pad to color for aging and created a multi loop bow.

KC Moose 2

I wanted to create a shaker card using my new Shake It window pouches and fill it with white Flower Soft for snow.  I stamped the Rubbernecker trees and moose on watercolor paper and painted andI sponged in a light blue sky   I used a small brush to paint in falling snow and snowy ground and embossed with white embossing powder. I cut the moose heads out to pop up out of the trees with glue dots. I applied a small bit of Flower Soft in the pouch and attached it over the scene.  I cut a frame with Nestabilities using BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses and popped it up over the pouch and finished my card. I learned a lesson with this project.  Do not use glue dots when creating a shaker card as the snow will stick to it.  Duh!

  9. Kittie, I thought card #1 was my fav .. that snowy scene seems to beckon to a non-winter person like myself. But then I moved on to the precious fireplace scene with that sweet image so full of detail and added dimension and fell in love right there. But wait! Those delightful moose peeking out from the trees … stealing my heart! Way to go with your weekend of Christmas stamping!
